What train stop in Salerno?
DH and I will be arriving at Naples airport on Wednesday Sept 14, 2016 @ 3:45pm and will need to travel to the Naples train station to take a train to Salerno for the first night of our Southern Italy trip. I believe we take the Alibus to Piazza Garibaldi (Naples train station) to find a train. I went on trentitalia's website and it lists several destinations for Salerno...Salerno Arbostella, Salerno Irno, Salerno Mercatello etc. What destination do I want to put in the field to check times and fares? Our first night is at Hotel Plaza which is supposed to be very close to the Salerno station. Please help. thanks,

There used to be a bus (Buono) from the airport to Salerno. I would check for that first, but the times might not work for you as there were only a couple of departures per day.

Yes, you would take the Alibus. Piazza Garibaldi is the lower level of the Naples train station. The upper level station is Napoli Centrale. You need to be sure where your train will depart. If you enter Napoli Centrale on Trenitalia you will get different results than if you enter Napoli P. Garibaldi. From Centrale, you will see Frecce (35-40 minutes), IC (35 minutes)and regional (40 - 1:15) trains to Salerno. From Garibaldi will be the metropolitano (1 1/4 hours to 1 1/2 hours) which takes longer (makes more stops) as it's more commuter/local. If you intend to use Centrale, make sure you select a train with no changes.

Yes, it does. In the duration column it shows number of changes and gives the option to click the down arrow next to show to get the changes. If you want to see the number of stops (not changes) a train makes, click the i below the type of train/train number.
