Looking for your very favorite spots in Rome. The best places to sit and people watch...sip on wine...eat the best food...or just to sit back and absorb the magic of that city...

'Gusto. A few blocks southwest of Piazza dol Popolo. Wouldn't think of going to Rome without a visit. A happening place with Rome's glitterati.

The rooftop bar at the Hotel del Senato next to the Pantheon. People watching might be a little difficult since you're 7 or 8 floors up, but the view of Rome at night is amazing. As I understand it, you don't have to be staying at the hotel to visit the bar.

wel for me it has to be ...drinking coffee outside the Colosseum : ) you can sit and people watch any time of the day and when no one's around (as if !) you can just sit and look at the Colosseum itself : ) it changes all the time with the weather and the time of day : ) ..I could sit there "Forever": )Ciao XxEm

The piazza in front of the Pantheon in late afternoon. Cafe great for a drink, a free munchie, resting the feet and listening (every time we have been there, there was either some musical rehearsal or bell-ringing or something going on, never mind just the sounds of Rome being itself.)

I have to agree with NYTraveler - last time we were in Rome we spent at least an hour every day in one of the little cafes in Piazza della Rotonda in front of the Pantheon and just watched people. We found it to be a great place to re-charge and get some energy back before heading back out into the bustle of Rome.
