We did it. 3.5months in Europe, what an adventure.

Currently sitting in the lounge at the Paris airport, awaiting a boarding call. We will be home in about 26 hours ahhhhh. But so worth it. We have had so many adventures, I have no idea how to do a TR on this trip, we did so much. 12 Countries in all (albeit some we just drove through & crossed borders)

As always your help was invaluable one more request! How on earth will I tackle the trip report? I did keep a diary, so I will try.

Highlights are Spending time with our daughter in London, Oliver in London, the Jeff Goldblum play in London, attempting basic french & being rewarded with lovely smiles, having our other daughter join us for two weeks in Italy, antique linen shopping in Asti with a local, Bosnia, Slovenia, amazing weather, including a snow storm, all things food in Italy &France, I could go on and on. I'll try really hard when we get home to work out the best way to convey some of our experiences, without boring anyone to death.
kind wishes to all Deidre
Ps, for anyone who has followed our travels over the last few years, just wanted to let you know.............there were no break ins at the house & no pets dying, all in all no dramas, phew.

Hi aussiedreamer ,
I'm so glad you had a fantastic time! I still relive our 96 day trip from last year on a daily basis. Unbelievable. Time really flew by for us. Our son gave us a digital photo frame for Christmas that we loaded with 400 of our 5000 pictures. I turn it on daily. My screen saver on my laptop is loaded with another 300 of our top pics. I can just sit and look at it for hours.

You'll get back into your daily routine soon but don't worry, the memories will last forever. I would do this length of trip again in a heartbeat and would tell anyone who is contemplating it to just do it.

Glad you're headed home, safe and sound.

Umm... from someone for whom daily life always picks up again too quickly and I never get a TR written: just do it! Meaning, whatever way you manage to get it out of your head and through the keyboard. Especially with such a long trip, it might be better to start just as you did here - copy/paste even - then go back and fill in the details. You can either do it all as one TR (keep replying to your thread to add segments), or break it into separate ones by country or other organization...

I think part of the reason I never get mine written/posted is I want to include every detail, in order - and then quickly lose steam when daily life intervenes. So I hope you don't have the same affliction as me!

So pleased all has gone so well.

Looking forward to your trip report - It's daunting I know because you have accomplished so much. The mama of trip reports this year IMHO must be this one, so maybe take a few tips here?

How on earth will I tackle the trip report? I did keep a diary, so I will try.

The journey of 10,000 miles begins with a single step. And the trip report begins with a single sentence.

Take your time, let it flow, and don't try to get it all down at once. We are a patient lot.

Keeping a diary was an awesome idea. Glad you did.

Welcome back. I can't wait to read about your adventures!

Welcome back!

I can't believe your trip is already over - I remember reading all the posts about the planning of the trip and so look forward to reading details.

As others have said, just start writing. I still regret not posting a TR of my family's Paris/Italy trip from three years ago - it just seemed so overwhelming at the time, but mr_go's advice is perfect! Just a sentence at a time.

Thanks one and all. Home safe n sound, we worked out it took 30 hours, from leaving our hotel room in Paris to walking in the front door. Boy its a long way ;-)
I've had a browse through my diary & have decided I 'will' give a TR a go. Ah but the laundry is calling..............

Welcome home - followed your plans & will look forward to reading about some of your adventures.

You do know that the next week or 3 will be lost in "this time last week/month, we were in ... " musings, don't you
