I would be visiting Garmisch Partenkirchen with my Wife and daughter (2 years old) in couple of days.
My trip schedule is for 2 half days and 1 complete day

Day 1 (Half Day): Visit Fusion, Neuschwanstein castle. My interest is to see the castle just from outside since I feel that there would not be enough of time left that day

Day 2 (Complete Day) : Complete day trip to Zugspitze. How long it takes for go up to Zugspitze and back to Garmisch Partenkirchen? Though I am very much interested to visit Alpspitze and Partnach Gorge as well, but I don't think I would have enough of time to visit at least 2 of them in a single day. If I were to choose one between Zugspitze, Alpspitze and Partnach Gorge, which one would be most memorable and scenic among them?

Day 3 (Half day) : Would drive to Innsbruck (or Wattens). Spend half a day in Innsbruck.
I have heard that it is a beautiful town but not aware what to visit in Innsbruck

Requesting your suggestions for a better experience of the Garmish Alps. I don;t mind if this would requires canceling the visits to Neuschwanstein castle and Innsbruck.

Hi,

Are you heading somewhere after your stay in Garmisch via Innsbruck? If not, I'd skip Innsbruck. If your interest in Wattens is Swarovski, I'd skip this too. Big dissappointment for us.

If your interest is to view Neuschwanstein, go for it. It's not that far. If Neuschwanstein is crowded, there's a chance you could get a tour of Hohenschwangau castle ("next door" so to speak), where Ludwig spent his early years. I found this tour much less crowded and more informative of Ludwig's family and early life.

If interested, "Mad" King Ludwig's Linderhof palace is closer to Garmisch and the interior more elaborate.

We went to the top of the Zugspitze. Well worth the cost. We spent about 2 hours at the top. We did it from Ehrwald, Austria, so I'm not familiar with time frame from Garmisch.

thanks for this information. Reading your experience, I plan to skip Innsburk and Wattens trip. I would be directly heading to Garmish Zugpitze.
The second day - Since i would not be going to Innsburk and wattens, I plan to visit stubaier glacier (i still have to choose between Stubaier Glacier and Partnach Gorge)
The third day - I would visit Neuschwanstein castel and depending upon the crowd, would try Hohenschwangau castle.
I would be starting my trip tomorrow, so this plans is almost frozen . Just hoping that i see some snow caps over Zugpitze mountains or atleast in Stubaier Glacier.

If you want snow you are more likely to find it at Stubai (permanent glacier). But I suggest to look at the weather; if the weather is good high mountains (Stubai or Zugspitze) are attractive, but if the weather is not good better stick to cities, and Innsbruck IMHO is not as bad as it was described. Wattens is a loss of time anyway.

Actually, there is no longer year-round snow cover at Zugspitze, so you probably won't see any snow. Or, at most, a few patches.

That's one of the effects of global climate change, and one reason I discourage folks from driving in this beautiful area. Scientists have said that in 30 years, all of the glaciers in Bavaria will be gone.
