Tower of Pisa - Waited too long to book online

O.K. I am not as organized as I should be and seem to have waited too long to book on-line to get tickets to tour the Leaning Tower of Pisa (will be in Pisa on Sept. 16). Does anyone know if you can get same day tickets/cancellations/no shows by going to the tower itself? Would think not everyone always shows up on time (sort of like myself). Thanks in advance. Counting the days till I leave for Italy.
slowpoke

I was in Pisa in June, turned up at about 11am, bought tickets for 3pm. The guided tours have a max of about 20 people each time, each tour lasting 30 mins or so, so there is a limit to the number of visits that can be made in total in a day. Tickets are available in the office next door to the Tourist Information office, behind the tower and cathedral.

Summary: Get there early!

Jim

Hi, Slowpoke!

My wife & I were there in May at a time when you couldn't book online.

We went to the ticket office and could have had tickets but we would have had to wait 2 hours. We were in kind of a rush and didn't get the tickets.

The time of day was probably around 3-4 pm.

As we look back on it, we should have gotten the tickets and waited the two hours. It would have been a great experience to go up the Tower.

If you can't book online at this point, I would think if you went to the ticket office early on in the day you could get tickets and not have to wait too long for your turn to go up.

It's unbelievable just to look at the Tower and the surroundings. But to go up must be a truly memorable experience and I would highly recommend you do it if you can. I wish we had waited the two hours and done it.

Good luck.

Bob

We were just in Pisa last week (Saturday). We arrived at 11 am and could have bought tickets for 1:10 pm but decided not to wait as we basically just wanted a quick look around. Didn't buy tickets ahead as we wanted to stay flexible.
