We were in Pisa in June and did not have reservations. We arrived around noon and got tickets to go up at 3.45PM. So be prepared to wait. This waiting time gave us good time to get to know the other things in piazza dei Miracoli and to get plenty of pictures of the tower ;o)
I think they have a quota of prebooked tickets and the rest are left to be sold during the same day.

Have you tried to book also at this site: http://www.opapisa.it/boxoffice/? This is the official site for Pisa tower ticket selling, booking through tis site you will not be booking a tour but only the ticket to the ascent to the tower.

You can buy tickets in Pisa before you want to go or on the same day, as well as online:

http://www.italywithus.biz/main_pages/travel/tower_pisa.html

Have a great time!

You don't need tickets just to look at the tower, if that is what you're asking.

I found all of the entry prices pretty steep, and only had a two-hour parking spot , so I just wandered around the field, took some photos, had lunch and left. The wait to go up the tour was insanely long and it was raining, so it didn't seem worth it to me.

I actually have the opposite problem. I bought tickets online for my 4 1/2 year old son and I and afterward found out that only kids over 8 years can go in the tower.
I'd sell them to someone, but youi have to show up at the ticket window with your matching ID, etc. to get the actual tix.
I want to get a refund, but can't figure out how. Does anyone know how?
Thanks.

Me:

In the worst case you may still get your ticket and than sell it to someone waiting to get a ticket. It is forbidden, but as long as you do not seel if for more than the money you actually soent to buy it, it is usually overlooked.
In any case, contact [email protected] to get informations about this subject: this e-mail connects you directly with Opera del Duomo di Pisa, the organization that controls monumesnt in Piazza dei Miracoli, so they are supposed to know what to do with with your extra ticket.

When I went the tower wasn't open for touring the inside. It was still so amazing to just be there.

BTD, dont say "it is very touristy, but my husband insists". It is touristy for a reason, if you avoid all spots of interest, you will only stay and see out of the way places with little interest.
