Tour Guide in Budapest

We are going on a Danube riverboat cruise in July. The itinerary begins in Budapest and ends in Prague. We will be staying in Budapest prior to the cruise. Can anyone recommend a tour guide for Budapest? Thank you very much in advance for your advice.

What do you want? A person for a private tour or small group tours? There are a ton of walking tour operators. Some meet at Deak Ter, others at another square, various options for the Jewish Quarter exist too and there's information for them at the Dohany Utca synagogue.

We will be 4 people, and we'd like a private tour guide for the Jewish Quarter. Any recommendations? Thank you very much.

I mostly just use guidebooks, but I did do an Art Nouveau tour in Budapest with this outfit: http://palstreettours.com/ I thought the tour was well done, and I see that they offer a tour of the Jewish Quarter.

There is a company called Unique Budapest Walking Tours that does private tours. We've done one with them and thought they were very good. (I'm doing their kayak the Danube tour next October)

Wow Peter, that sounds great. Our apartment overlooks the Danube at Margit Island. I always wondered who all those kayakers were touring down the river. We'll have to look into that.

We had a wonderful guide after our river cruise last July. He was the guide on our final day in Budapest on our bus. Friendly and fun. He has his own BMW and drove us to see the places we wanted to see. The Opera House and Great Synagogue. We spent 2 afternoons with him. His name is Balint Tamas. Website: budapestdriverguide.com You will enjoy his company.
