Paying tribute, Intrepid, but hoping to profit from it. So we make money and give the French the satisfaction of confirming their prejudices about us. But we still make money out of it.

See? That's how it's done...

The balance of tourism defecit between UK and France must be heavily in French favor due to zillions of Brits who flock to France - especially southern France for holidays - i've heard of lots of Brits having second holiday homes in France but few French doing thus in UK - i supposed the weather has something to do with that. so getting a little back is good in spite of the traffic snarls, etc. closed streets may cause and the money spent to stem terrorists attacts will also eat info profits.
And maybe tallulah has a good idea - rent out the first days of Wimbledon to the French!
