Summer air to Paris - Icelandair?

The only flights I am finding for early June from Boston (Msp, Ord also) are over 1K except Icelandair. I have never flown them and am wondering if there is any reason to wait for another airline. Aer Lingus is somewhat more in price and we have flown them with no problem other than the planes were a bit older. What do you think? I am inclined to wait to see if fares go down but it goes against my nature to wait.

Try reversing the flight, and you will find that CDG to BOS RT is quite a bit less. For me from Chicago, its $400 more(ORD-CDG) vs (CDG to ORD)RTs for the dates I want. $1200 vs $800

So yes...wait for a sale

I'm taking Icelandair out of JFK to Paris then end of May. I got rt for $800 bucks. Never flow Icelandair but it's a red eye so I'm hoping I'll sleep most of the flight. I have a layover at Rychelvek (spelling?) then a connection to Paris.

I was in the same position and I went and booked with them. I checked several review sites and found most of the complaints were things I can live with (food, entertainment, "irritable" staff). Their safety, on-time, etc records are fine.

I flew them twice: once to Paris, once to Amsterdam. I loved the flight and the service and that was the easiest and fastest connection I'll ever make! Seriously, 15 minutes tops!

FrankS, that is interesting but what good does it do to look at the flight backwards? I'm confused. (So what else is new?)

I don't know what good it does, either, since you won't be booking it that way. Maybe it's just interesting? If fares differ by dates, it won't always change, it may be for a reason (ie, a holiday that affects one direction more than another, or some event).

I have a friend that flies Icelandair a lot and likes them fine.

It defeinitely depends on the DATE in June...earlier in the month I found flights for $813.00

go to www.itasoftware.com and use the month-long view

rbnwdlr,
I do that only to get an idea of the economics of the situation. Airlines are willing to do the RT for far less, I only have to determine if there is a enough demand to maintain those fares. I dont think there is enough demand. My guess, they will eventually have to put our RTs on sale. I dont know if I will get 800 summer fare, but even $200 less for the 6 tix I need to buy is worth the wait.

Oh, thanks! Dukey I DID check itasoftware and our dates are only flexible by a day or two as I am a teacher and have to wait till school is out, dangit. We have an apartment for June 11 - 19. So...I never saw any flights in the $800 range or I would have booked them!
