Solo traveler in Rome-October. Let's meet!
Hi! I'm very excited that I will be in Rome Oct. 21-27 (actually arrive Sat. 10/22 am). I will be staying on the Via Veneto and would love to meet up with anyone who is traveling during that time period - food, drink, sights, day trip? Fodorites TRSW and chicago_heather, I posted similar info on my original posting. I hope very much to make new acquaintances and friends and to have a fabulous time in Rome! Please touch base!

Hey, Heather, great to hear from you. Since I'll have been there a full 2 days, I will hopefully have a decent idea of where to go in the city. I am staying at the Hotel Giolli on Via Nazionale; is that near your hotel? It's up to you - I'd love to meet up when you get there, but I imagine you might want to get acclimated, etc. after a long trip. Why don't you e-mail me at daffylaurie@aol and we can talk more about specifics there. Looking forward to it!

We love Rome and you are staying at a great location.
We look forward to meeting fellow Fodorites and Slow travelers during our trip to the Piedmont, Tuscany and Rome.

Hi Laurie,
We aren't singles but we'll be in Rome for 3 nights - starting about noon the 21st and leaving for home (sigh) on the 24th.
We've "talked" a little with Tom and Jabez and would love to get together with Fodorites. Just let me know when and where.
We are still trying to find a place to stay in Rome. The apartment that I got last time is already booked. Oh WOE! Now I have to start researching all over again.
Email is [email protected]
I'm glad someone is trying to organize a get-together - will be so much fun.
Carol

Just thought I'd put in a word for a guide book you might enjoy having along: "City Secrets - Rome" is one of a series of City Secrets guides. All the entries are written by regular visitors, expats etc who have their own favorite places of all kinds, from restaurants to churches to gelaterie. It's organized by area, with simple maps that show each "secret" place by number. At any moment you can stop where you are, open the book, and see if there;s something interesting nearby. A great book. Contributors are chefs, architects, teachers, diplomats.
