Snaefellsnes v. Skaftafell

I am planning a trip to Iceland this summer. I plan to stay a couple of days in Reyjkavic and do day trips from there. Afterwards, I have a couple of days -- I'd either like to go north to Snaefellsnes or south to Skaftafell. But I don't think I'll have time to visit both areas. Which area would be more worth my time? Thanks!

Hi. I just got back from Iceland and I visited both regions. I'm no expert, but if you only have a couple of days, I'd suggest Snaefellsnes. They call it "Iceland in a nutshell" or something like that because so many things that make Iceland special exist on Snaefellsness. Supposedly it takes a couple of days to really explore the peninsula, and it's a much shorter drive from Reykjavik than Skaftafell. We stayed in Hotel Hellnar, a new hotel, and we really enjoyed it. Have fun planning your trip!
