help for iceland trip
my boyfriend and i are starting to research and plan a trip to iceland this year. we are not sure when exactly we will be going, but we are thinking end of august or september maybe (for about 10 days). i received some information on (non-escorted) packages offered by icelandair. the fly and drive packages sound great - this way, we could see iceland at our own pace. and, you can stay at farm guesthouses along the way. but, we also want to spend some time in reykjavik, too. outside of the u.s., we have both only been to italy before. and, since it is obvious that a trip to iceland will be an entirely different type of adventure, if you have any suggestions on planning a trip there, that would be great.
thanks!

Iceland is marvelous. August is a great time to go, as you still have longer days then and Thorvald (Thor's Woods) is open. To get you started, you can check out

Happy planning!

Iceland is great. If you have enough time you may want to rent a car and spend your time driving round the ring road. This seems to be a popular trip. The variety of scenery around the island is, by all accounts, spectacular.
However, I don't know if 10 days is enough to do this and see Reykjavik for a few days. You'd probably need a couple of weeks in all.
