I wanted to go to Iceland the next year but I don't know what to do. On the one hand I wanted to go to Iceland and to amsterdam but then I've thought that maybe it's better 15 days in each country...

What could I do? I only have 15 days.

You should read the recent trip report on Iceland. I'm not sure you'd want to spend 2 there IMHO.

Its all personnel choice and at what pace you want to travel. We stayed for 14 nights which was plenty but this included the North of Iceland as well which is a long long car journey away (although you can take an internal flight)

If you go for the one week option then ignore the North of Iceland (2 weeks you can include it but in 1 week you would spend more time travelling than sightseeing or enjoying yourself).

I'll give a bit more info when I get time but I think 10 days would be a good amount of time to enjoy the South/East and then the South/West Snaefellsnes Peninsula area.

You would see most things and although some days would long and involve long drives I think it would be about right.

The North does have different scenario and the most recent Volcanic eruption (1974) but involves a lot more travelling.

It really all depends on what you want to do and what you expect to get from travel.

We took our own car from UK and had a little over two weeks during which we just looked at the eastern part (roughly between Husavik and Skaftafell). We like to see what a country is really like and that gave us time to do that.

Others zoom all the way round in a week and see a lot of tarmac but not much of Iceland, but that's what they like.

The choice is yours.

many years ago we went to Iceland for 1 week. We stayed mostly in Reykjavik, did the Golden Circle tour, took planes to Heimaey, Greenland, and Akuryeri (stayed overnight). We thought that was just enough.

Of course, it depends on what kind of a traveler you are. How much is enough?

If you're into great scenery and outdoor activities (lots of hiking), I'd go with two weeks in Iceland. It's definitely worth the time.

If you like spending times in cities, museums, etc, a week in each might be a better pick.
