Shortest return to Paris (or somewhere else you loved) after coming home
My family had such a nice visit to Paris in Early June. 6 days staying in lovely flat in the 18th. Loved being away from crowds. Wandered around and didn't stand in line for the big sites.
Enjoyed a Skip the Line Eiffel and Seine cruise with Citywonders. The guide Violet was amazing.
Loved our Fat Tire bike tour to Giverney - Also guide Claudia was outstanding.
Enjoyed leisurely strolls and lunch and ice cream in both Tuileries and Luxembourg Gardens. Went to Musee Rodin, L'Orangerie and the Medical History Museum.....
We had so much fun we're wondering when we'll get back. Checking fares and vacation schedules. Makes me wonder how quickly others left a place and then booked again to go back because you loved it or missed it.....

For a variety of reasons which I will not bore you with, last Fall we ended up going to Europe (for about ten days each trip) twice in fewer than six weeks. One trip included London, Berlin, and Venice while the other included Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich. Non-refundable airline fares along with a decision not to spend 13 nights on a transatlantic voyage will do this kind of thing to you.

Well, it's not a trip back to Europe, but in April 2014 my husband and I visited Catskill Animal Sanctuary (a sanctuary for farm animals and for horses) for the first time. I was deeply moved but what I experienced there, and began converting to a vegan diet. Aside from the lovely sanctuary, they have a great B&B.
I've been back about 15 times since then, and I volunteer as their photographer

And my husband and I have already started planning our return trip to Iceland (we got home on Tuesday).

Nice thoughts.... as a traveler I'm always trying to balance the desire for NEW horizons with the feeling of wanting to go back to someplace amazing.
I went to sleep last night saying to my husband...let's stay healthy enough so we can keep traveling for the next 40 years.

Although I'd previously sworn (to myself) not go to the same place twice in two years, this year we're planning to return to Paris for six nites having spent five nites there last year.
Paris grows on you.

My logic is this in going back to Umbria so soon: We will hopefully see parts of the region that we didn't make it to on the first trip. But, for me, traveling overseas can be stressful. While I want my vacations to open new horizons, I also need them to be vacations, as does my husband. So, going back a second time--especially so quickly--will take some of the stress we felt on this year's trip and will take some of the pressure off of me in terms of planning the trip (I'm the planner between us). Plus, we're going back to a place that we found to be pretty laid back and relaxing. In 2017, we'll try a new place--France hopefully. Maybe once I'm retired I won't feel this way, but for me now, this is a good compromise between the old and new. Prior to marriage, I went to Paris three times in the span of about 4 years, partly for the same reason (and because I love it).

Our family( DH, myself and kids ages 14,11 and 8) are locked in deep discussion about next summer. Return to Paris with other European fun as we all had a great time ..... or somewhere new.
The 14 year old is all about some place new.... the 11 year old wants to go back to Paris. The parents have both dreams... and only wish for more time.
Daily prayer that we remain healthy enough for long enough to do all the travel we dream of.

I logged back on to Fodors after long absence. Looking at next Summer. Tickets to Paris are quite reasonable for summer and our .....
should we return to Europe for a second summer debate continues...
1) jeesh sort of almost embarrassing to be such a traveler.... in our community this would be fancy... even though we don't travel in a fancy style....
2) still the pull of something new is in the mix
3) There are so many places we want to go we feel like we should tend the list
BUT we all keep drifting back to that fun apartment in Paris.
Oldest has three more summers before graduating, I (mom) am not working which is likely to change soon.... so feels like a chance for a big trip.....
Lovely dilemmas

This might be a case where you can't lose either way; neither choice is wrong, and both are right.
I would consider the following: 1) I suspect you lucked out in terms of Paris climate for your trip. Especially you are considering going any later in the summer, it could be very hot and sticky. How is the A/C in that apartment, and how do you feel about hot/sticky weather? 2) Do you want to repeat the places you saw last time, or do you have ideas about new places you want to see in Paris? 3) Maybe combine a Paris trip with another city that is easily reachable by train, and do an open-jaw flight into one city and out the other?
