Check out Daniella Hunt at www.rome-tours.com. We used her for a tour of the Colosseum and Roman forum a few years ago.
More recently, friends used her for a tour that focused on the ghetto and Jewish history.

I took this walking tour, it was very informative but a lot depends on the particular guide on any given tour with any company.

We used Jewishroma ( Micaela Pavoncello) last May. It was a great walking tour. Micaela is fun and informative. We had originally booked her for a private tour but happily more people wanted the same day so a small group was formed. This is good, as she is expensive for private but the cost was brought down significantly.
We used Alessandra Mazzoccoli [email protected] for a private tour of the Vatican. She was terrific, spending more than the 3 hours we contracted for. I cannot stress enough how important a private tour is!
