Rome to Paris
Hi Folks
I cant find any direct train to Paris from Rome. I've to travel on 27.12.11. I think Trenitalia has shutdown few trains in their new time table. There is only one train which is very expensive = 187 Euros.
Is their any chance that Trenitalia will increase the number of trains for the same route?
Any other better option?
cheers!!

I imagine Trenitalia won't have schedules fully loaded until late Nov/early Dec. You might be able to snag a Smart fare. This link explains the fare.
http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/inde...003f16f90aRCRD
To select that fare, enter your cities/dates on Trenitalia, select the train (you only have one choice at the moment) and click contine. On the next screen,in the select fare drop down box, select Smart.
It's possible you will have to change trains in Milan. You might want to consider flying Easy Jet from Rome to Paris Orly.

ryanair.com CIA to BVA always cheapest fastest for me
easyjet.com also good more expensive options
seat61.com/Italy for trains have done them a bunch
nice longer more expensive in winter I would go up
the med coast via Pisa Portofino Nice Paris unless
you want cold snow in which case Milan Stresa Geneva Paris
Trains leave hourly there also are sleepers which I
have done that truly suck...too much "train lag"
pretty unsafe at times watch your stuff...
Happy Travels!

Unfortunately, the Smart fare doesn't appear in the drop-down fare menu for the 27 December night train. Since it does appear for dates prior to the 11 December timetable update, I imagine it will appear for 27 December once Trenitalia gets its act together and uploads its new timetables. The daytime routes also will show up then. To get timetables now for the daytime routes, enter a date prior to 11 December.

It's also possible the Smart fares haven't been loaded for winter yet. When I selected it for Dec. 27, It dropped the fare about 40€, but not to the Smart price.
Even if you enter a date this week, there are not that many trains to choose from and all have changes. The overnight train has only one change in Milan.
It will probably be cheaper (and faster) to fly Easy Jet.
