Rental Cars in Seville, Spain
Found several car companies I never heard of before offering REALLY low rates for 3-13 Jan 2011 rental period out of Seville Airport for a mini/economy size (~$135-$150) The companies included Argus, Car Del Mar, Giant, and ANYCAR.
I'm going to be staying at Moron Air Base just to the south east of the city, but the on-base Navy Exchange rental place is quoting me a rate of ~$350.
Has anyone used these firms before? I'm a little hesitant since I'm only used to stateside firms like Alamo, Budget, Dollar, etc.
Thx,
Slimm

Never hear of any of them. You should contact Auto Europe (based in Portland, Maine) to see what they have to offer.
Typically, the local rental car companies have to add the insurance, as required by Spanish law, to the cost of the rental. If you go through Auto Euopre, Avis or Hertz, you can waive the insurance.

Argus and Car del Mar are brokers dealing with a number of suppliers. Argus has pretty poor reviews, CdM has mixed reviews. Sixt, a reputable company has an inclusive rate of about $250 for your time period. I'm not sure if Kemwel is in Spain, but if so, they are reliable as well. However, Renting at the NEX has advantages. You don't have to go off base to pick the car up and NEX has your back in case there are problems with the rental company. Just curious though. Is there a reason that you chose Moron over Rota? I am guessing it's because it is near Seville. However, if you are flying Space A, you should have better luck in Rota.

Basingstoke2,
Thx much for the tips. I'll be on R&R from Afghanistan, meeting my wife @ 1/2 way point from Virginia. I'll be traveling comm air vice Space-A/cattle car from Kuwait Int'l. I do have reservations already at Rota, but have to wait for 30-days prior to get on Moron's list. Moron's a little closer to Granada, Malaga and Cordoba, but ROta doesn't appear to be a terrible fall-back plan. Am leaning towards Sixt @ the airport, unless I can convince 496 ABS Vehicle Dispatch to pick-up/drop-off my wife and I @ Seville Airport. Still have plenty of time to decide. Appreciate the reply.

I've used carjet.com to book really low rates especially in Jan. They're a reputable broker and when you go to pick up you're actually dealing with someone like Hertz or Avis. You have to reserve ahead of time though. If you try to rent once you're there it will be a lot higher. 135 eu sounds about right, good price.

slimm- enjoy your R&R, you've earned it! Rota is a really nice base and there is a good beach and boardwalk - more of a promenade - that you can walk to from the main gate. It has both a Navy Lodge and very decent transient billiting - you may want to look at the latter before springing for the lodge, it costs less too. If you are of a rank that will get you into the VIP section (0-6 and above, but I have seen them open it for 0-5) it is for sure the better choice. From Rota, it is only about a half-hour to Cadiz, a nice city in itself and the base leisure travel desk at the MWR office usually has a number of tours to choose from - it is worth checking out.
