positano

Would anyone happen to know the name of the town before Positano
I believe it begins with the letter S

Someone had recommended getting off of the Sita bus from Sorrento
at this stop and walking they said
a short distance to Positano

Thanks for your help

Hi Kathy - It's not a town - it's the name of the LAST bus-stop in Positano ( - the stop nearest the centre).

The stop is on the main road above Positano. It's called 'Sponda.' From this stop it's a 3 mins stroll down to Positano centre.

Steve

N.B. Do NOT get off at the first stop in Positano (- Bar Internazionale/ Chiesa Nuova)) by mistake. It's a long walk down from here
...

Oh thanks so much Steve

That is exactly the name I needed/Sponda

How many stops are there in Positano?

Any idea how long the trip is from Sorrento

There are 2 main stops in Positano -

- Bar Internazionale (- Chiesa Nuova), and
- Sponda

Journey time from Sorrento - 45 mins approx - depending on traffic

Hope this helps ...

Steve, when we're returning from Positano to Sorrento, is the bus stop for the Sita bus back to Sorrento directly on the opposite side of the highway from the Sponda/Positano stop?

<<The stop is on the main road above Positano. It's called 'Sponda.' From this stop it's a 3 mins stroll down to Positano centre.>>

The Sita bus timetable is on the link provided by Ekscrunchy.

Timetables normally change in summer for high season.

I was wondering about that, Steve and ekscrunchy. The timetable posted, if I am reading it correctly, seems to include a stop a Sponda only in the direction Amalfi to Sorrento. Would that be true in October? If so, leaving Sorrento in the morning, would we need to ride all the way to Amalfi and then ride back to the Sponda stop; or would it be more practical to get off at the Chiesa Nuova stop and brave the longer walk?

Meggies -

'If so, leaving Sorrento in the morning, would we need to ride all the way to Amalfi and then ride back to the Sponda stop ...?'

No. The Sponda stop is operative in BOTH directions regardless of season - it's just not listed.

Coming from Sorrento, the 'Sponda' stop is 5 mins after the Bar Internazionale/Chiesa Nuova stop (- the bus circles the upper part of Positano).

You can't miss it - EVERYONE for Positano gets off there
