Paris "Nuit Blanche" Oct 2 & 3...cool!
Thanks to cigalechanta in her post "A Newsletter from Paris", I found out about Paris great weekend "Nuit Blanche" of free "stuff", museums, concerts, maybe even breakfast at City Hall for the weekend of October 3 & 4. If you do a yahoo search typing in "Nuit Blanche", you will find out about it. I'll see you there! Look for me, I'll be towing my 83 year old 5 foot Irish mom through the crowds! I better get her a cell phone!

Also on Saturday Oct 2:
Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival - The parade is in the afternoon, festivities continue into the evening.
Montmartre celebrates its unusual status as the only wine-growing area of Paris and remembers its rural past with a colourful parade at harvest time.
Vineyards were widespread on Montmartre in the 10th century and were first mentioned in 390 BC. The wines produced had an unusual reputation, claiming to "make you jump like a goat."
Over 2000 vines, planted in 1929, thrive in the enclosure between rue Saint-Vincent and rue des Saules. Since 1937, the area has celebrated its wine-growing capabilities with a celebration of their grape. A traditional parade of local wine-buffs leaves the place Jules-Joffrin who follow the blue and yellow banner of the République de Montmartre, often accompanied by wine-growers from elsewhere in France and Europe. In the evening there is a variety show, a banquet, a ball as well as plenty of wine-tasting of course!

Does anyone know for certain the date of the Montmartre Wine Festival? Travelnut posted Oct 2 and it is always the first Sat in October but I have seen several websites giving Oct 9 as the date (see what Mimi posted on the thread about Paris being busy in October). I was planning on Oct 9 but I can't find out for sure the correct date. Can anyone help?

I did see a post where it listed the wine festival as Oct. 9. I also saw a post that it occurred last year on the 2nd Sunday. Check out the Whatsonwhen.com site for a phone number you could call.
I can't locate exactly what will be going on for Nuit Blanche. Anyone find something specific on it?
Thanks. Taylor
