Paris Neighbourhoods - Clicty

Hi. I'd like to spend a week in Paris doing the museums etc and have found the hotel prices are cheaper outside central Paris. Prices seem especially reasonable in the Clichy area so I was wondering how convenient it is to travel in to the city centre from Clichy. What do you think? Many thanks.

I would look for savings somewhere else - location is the ONE thing you shouldn't sacrifice to save money, IMO.

Hi Bardo, Clichy doesn't look that far away from the centre by metro......it is beyond the ring road though!

Hi Krs-Oflin I was seeing prices per night of around 40-50 euros which is not bad really especially as tarifs seem much higher in the centre. Thank you for the website recommendation.

They would be a lot higher than 40-50 euro, that's true. You don't seem to really care about where you stay, you ust want a cheap hotel so I guess you don't care what it is like around it, an dyou don't mind being a commuting tourist. Do you intend to do nothing around your hotel, just go back at night and go into it and to bed? If so, then it should be fine, sure. There is some big Ibis out at Porte de Clichy that is one of their higher-level ones, actually (I think).

You might check for cheaper hotels at La Defense, it is a big more convenient, probably. And La Defense is on the metro line.

If you are talking about somewhere in CLichy the area and not near the Porte de Clichy metro/REr stop (which IS inside the ring road), then I'd forget it. How do you intend to get anywhere?

There tend to be cheaper hotels right in the city center in the Bercy area, check there, lots better.

Our resident cheap hotel expert kerouac may be along soon to tell you about the numerous hotels in his neighborhood (inside the périphérique) with rates between 40€-60€ per night. I know I've seen a few cheap hotels in the 2nd arrondissement on rue Beauregard and some of its side streets (very central location) with rates around 60€-75€ a night but I don't remember their names and I don't know if they have websites.

Actually, here is one of them and their cheapest room is 63€ a night:

And then I remembered there's this hotel with rooms for singles between 55€-65€ a night and it's right by the Pont Neuf near Notre Dame. You can't beat the location for the price.

Hi Christina. I take your point about being a commuting tourist... I guess it could be limiting to leave the centre in the evening to go back to my hotel to change etc but I suppose I could take the metro back in to town again. I will have to think about that. Frenchmystic, thank you for your recommendations I will check them out. They're my kinda rates! Thanks again... people are helpful on this site.
