paris in early march
I am considering a trip to Paris over spring break beginning 3/9. We have taken a couple of trips to Rome and Barcelona at this time and have enjoyed them-both the weather and cost savings have been great compared to the prime season. My daughter graduates from college in May and this will likely be our last family trip together-her younger brother goes to college in a couple of years and I really can't splurge. Am I taking a risk on the weather? I have enough miles for the airfare and would just need to find a reasonable hotel.
Thanks!

what's the old cliche?, there is no such thing as bad weather, only wearing the wrong clothes.
Check for historical average temps and precip at weather.com or wunderground.com and then hope for the best.
Odds are it will be cold, and it will rain. Bring waterproof boots or shoes, warm sweaters and a coat.
I would say that about Paris 8 months out of the year.
You will have a wonderful time.

Hello Centex,
We have taken 2 spring break trips to Paris in the middle of March. This past year, we lugged heavy wool-lined overcoats, gloves, scarves, and only needed light-weight jackets. We were even able to sit outside during the day for lunch/drinks. On the other spring break/March trip to Paris, it was cold, not uncomfortable - but we did need the winter clothes. I would take advantage of the opportunity to create a memorable trip with your soon-to-be adult kids and book those frequent flyer miles asap!

We were in Paris this year from the 22 of Feb to the 6 of March. I had a jacket with a zip-out lining & layered according to the day. No boots - my black walking shoes or flats were sufficient. I did have 3 pairs of shoes in case one became soaked & needed a lot of time drying out.
I would go for it again in a heartbeat.

We visited twice in that time period--the second time for a week and a half. As you've heard, the weather isn't the greatest, but we walked and walked and walked anyway. Bring layers, an umbrella, waterproof shoes or boots, silk long underwear, gloves and a hat. You may be lucky and get a nice day or two, but I wouldn't count on it. We enjoyed ourselves, but we have decided that our next trip to Paris will be when there are flowers and it is warm enought to sit outside.
Think of renting an apartment. It will really save you a lot of money in the long run, and it is fun shopping at the local markets for food to rewarm in your apartment.

I've been in Paris maybe 6 or 7 times in March. I've had 60º F and sleet/snow. You could have anything - but cool/cold/windy/rainy is definitely a possibility. But that just makes the nice days seem that much nicer
Dress in layers, have scarves/gloves and an umbrella and you will be fine.

Hey! I would say definitely come! As everyone else pointed out, you just need to be prepared clothing-wise. (If you're not, you can always revamp your wardrobe, ha ha.) Weather is generally quite mild here in Paris. Today it's 45 and cloudy. Being from Wisconsin that's amazing! I guess it sort of depends on what you're used to, as well.

Hi
Paris is always nice but you might have some cold weather. Check out http://www.weatherbase.com for weather stats. My wife and I went there in April last year and it was a bit on the cold side. But the week after we came home it was nice and sunny in Paris and spring was suddenly there. Well, here is my trip report with pictures http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Maybe you can find some useful information there.
