Hi guys,

I am traveling to Paris for the week of 9th July - 16th July 2011 and have decided to stay in an apartment in the 6th arr (St. Germain area). I have looked at a whole bunch of website listing apartments for rent and have shortlisted a few, but I can't seem to decide among them. If you could help me out I would GREATLY appreciate it. The apartments are:

If I can get any information/reviews regarding the rental agencies or even the apartments (if you have stayed at any one of these) that would be great. Also, location, in terms of cafes and bakeries and some boutique type shopping. We're a young couple of 25yrs so we're looking for a lively area with lots of things happening around!

The PArisbestlodge Studio Mazarine is an EXCELLENT location. There are4 numerous cafes, and services nearby also a large grocery store and an Amorino! I know people that have rented from them. The VRBO apt looks nice too and the location is good.I do not recognize any of the other rental agencies

above is the other site for the perfectplaces apt you reference. From the website, I love it-but havent stayed. Also, it has a.c --which yo may be glad for in July

Note too that any of these will be close to bakeries, cafes, and shopping. The Sixth is a great area for what you want .
My problem with the studio (or any studio) vs a one bedroom, is that i dont like cooking/eating in the room where i sleep. For a week, you want that sense of your own little place, with separate living/cooking, and sleeping.

#2 looks fine, great street and area, wonderful price for a one bedroom...I'd take it!

#6 would be my first choice with a wonderful company, they do book up very quickly.

I agree about Paris best lodge, he seems to be a great guy to work with and his apartments are very reasonable

#7 seems too tight, looks great though and also a great location.

i think i researched too long and lost out on the perfectplaces apartment
but i still have some other options to choose from so still need to narrow things down a little bit!
my husband isn't too keen on the parisbestlodge one. he thinks its too dark as well.
any thoughts on apartments 1 & 2? i'm keen on 2 as well.

I couldn't see whether either of these had a/c. The first has one window on the street and it could be noisy to keep it open at night.

The second is in a quieter location. There were no reviews and it doesn't seem to have many bookings--is it a new listing?

the top has availability. No ac.

the bottom one has open calendar--you have to write and ask for rates/dates.

When you see the apt descriptions at the top of the page, there is a place you can click for all the 6th arr ones. I think there s a way to narrow availability dates too.

I'm guessing you've also tried Vacation in Paris?

Can't help with the apartment...have only stayed in hotels in the 6th.

I can recommend a great shop for pastries and also lunch items. Gerard Mulot is terrific. Beautiful pastries and chocolates! I went every day for pain au chocolat. There are tons of boutiques in the 6th and 7th...you'll have no trouble finding lots to explore.

We have a few cafes and restaurants that we love. For drinks and casual hanging out we love Le Danton. Right next door is Le Comptoir and the food is fantastic!

We also enjoy Marco Polo for Italian and les editeurs for a casual meal and/or drinks.

Yup, I've tried vacationinparis. Didn't really find anything that I wanted.

It seems like I didn't send requests in time as quite a few of these were already booked out and I had absolutely no idea!

So anyways, I went ahead and booked the 1st one. It has air-conditioning and is at the corner of Rue de Seine and Boulevard St. Germain which seems like a good location to me.

Lets hope that my vacation is as awesome as I expect it to be! Thanks again guys!

Narya, you will be perfectly fine in that one!! Your vacation will be even MORE awesome than you're expecting.
It's a great and lively location! We're staying right around the corner--about a one minute walk--on Rue de Buci. This is my dtr's--same age as you--fav location in Paris. Can be noisy , but that is part of the fun for you "young 'uns"
Also, you're a very short walk to where you get the navette for the ride along the Seine. Be sure to do one at night--tres romantique!

Excellent location. There is a large grocery store just down Rue de Seine and lots of take out place. There is a Paul for patisserie and a laundramat just across from Paul.I hate the washers in apt ..too slow . so I go to Laundramat and have breafst atPaul while waiting.
