Oxford Hotel?
Has anyone stayed at The Burlington House in Oxford? I am trying to find reasonable accomadations in Oxford. I would prefer it to be no more than $150-175 USD. Can anyone make any recommendations? Thanks

Oxford's just about the most expensive city in Britain, and this is reflected in hotel prices. If you're staying more than a day or two, you should think about self-catering accommodation, either in Oxford or in a nearby town.
I'm not familiar with any of the hotels as places to stay, but this one is a long way out of town, in a very boring suburb. It's really not realistic to walk the couple of miles into the centre, and driving in makes practically no sense: you have to use the (pretty good and very frequent) buses to get in.
Fine if you want somewhere cheap (by the standards of Europe's richest area) to stay on the way from London to Birmingham (this hotel's very close to the ring road, but it shouldn't be that noisy): useless if you've some idea of sleeping surrounded by dreaming spires.
If you DO want the dreaming spires, I'm not aware of any cheap ways of doing so, except staying at the Backpackers or YHA hostels which are at least within walking distance of them. You're pretty much restricted to the Randolph, Malmaison, Royal Oxford, Old Bank or Eastgate. Like the couple of pretty hotels just on the fringe of the centre (the Old Parsonage and Linton Lodge) they charge normal rates: roughly the range you're quoting.
Oops sorry. You're quoting prices in foreign money. Why? We don't use that here. Decent hotels in and around the centre will usually be around £150 a night and up.
However, Oxford's worth checking on Priceline. It's got a reasonable smattering of lower-priced places around Oxford's suburbs: there are no hotels remotely close to the city's horrid drug-infested estates, so they're all safe. All, are within a couple of minutes' walk of a bus stop into town, and practically nowhere's more than a fifteen minute bus journey from the centre. Oxford's desperately short of space: it's got no shortage of buses.
And the "name your own price" feature MIGHT throw up one of the nice places on a quiet night. But I woulodn't hold my breath.

Cotswold House is about two miles from Oxford centre but buses run frequently. You might also try Marlborough House Hotel www.marlbhouse.co.uk. It's also a couple of miles from the centre on Woodstock Rd but again frequent buses.Your budget might also be enough for The Cotswold Lodge which is closer than the above and very nice.
