Nicosia or Larnaca
I will be going to Nicosia for business in September. I will be flying to Larnaca on the Saturday and I will have the Sunday "off". Should I spend the Sunday in Larnaca or in Nicosia???

Hi Robotinette,
I would definitely recommend staying in Larnaca. I live in Nicosia and I must say I like Larnaca better anyway. Nicosia is pretty dead on Sundays (everything is closed), and Larnaca has a nice waterfront with cafes and bars, there's a beach right downtown and several other beaches (nicer ones) outside of the city.

Thanks!
Now, my plans have changed slightly. I will have 2 day free (Saturday and Sunday). Knowing that I will arrive in Larnaca on Friday afternoon and that I need to be in Nicosia on Sunday night, any thing to suggest? I am ready to rent a car if need be.
I would like to see as much as possible of the island, the history, the mountains, nature,
Thanks!

Being a small island, you can see quite a bit of Cyprus in two days, providing you rent a car. The public transportation isn't the best here. The question is whether you are familiar with driving on the left and if not, if you are ready to try? The road between Larnaca, Limassol and Nicosia is a very good four-lane highway, but roads in the mountains are just two-lane, and locals drive like crazy, so be careful.
If you get a car, and stay in Larnaca, you could spend Saturday driving around. I'd go to Limassol, and a couple of villages in the mountains. My favorite is Omodos (vine growing area), but Lefkara (famous for its lace) is also nice. They are both about half hour ride from Limassol, and Limassol is another half hour from Larnaca.

Best bet would be to hire a car from the airport and drive to Limassol and get a hotel for the two nights you will have.Limassol has numerous sites to visit i.e Curium,Kolossi Castle,Temple of Apollo,Limassol Castle and others all within half an hours drive. Also to the top of Mount Olympus can be done in 2 hours no problem.Limassol is certainly your best bet for good access to the rest of the island.
And the weather will just wonderful in September.
