new airline? for intra-Europe flights

When in Italy last month, I came across a magazine ad for BASIQ airlines (www.Basiqair.com) and I had never heard of this airline company before. They are offering some great deals between Amsterdam and various intra-Europe cities. Specifically pertaining to Italy, for example: Milano to Amsterdam is 29,99 euros each way, Verona/Treviso/Pisa to Amsterdam 39,99 euros each way, Napoli to Amsterdam 59,99 euros each way. There are various other city pairs (Barcelona, Madrid, London, etc) and the prices are really cheap. This offers a nice alternative to the more expensive Lufthansa flights.

I don't think they are all that new - - in any event, they are definitely listed on www.whichbudget.com - - the first place you should go looking, for comprehensivwe information on low cost intra-Europe air carriers.

Best wishes,

Rex

Basiq is the scheduled version of Transavia, a long-time Dutch charter outfit.

Whenever you see great prices on LCCs in Europe, be sure to click through to the purchase screen to see how much the taxes and fees are - usually as much as the fare. Different marketing styles from the big boys, but the prices can sometimes be pretty close.

Rex, thanks for the tip on the website for low-cost airlines throughout Europe, I didn't know about that site.

Gardyloo, I clicked through to the purchase screen and the prices were still the 29,99 euros wach way for a 60,00 euros total. Not bad! I will consider them next time I need to take an intra-Europe flight.

I flew BASIQ from Barcelona to Amsterdam last year. Good airline, on time departure and new equiptment. Not a bad choice for the incredible deals.

You might want to remember that the advertised fares frequently don't include airport taxes, so the total may be higher. I don't know if that's the case with Basiq.
