Need help w/ good eats in italy
I am currently booked on the simply italy tour of trafalgar ( rome , florence , venice 2 nights each ) plus I added a pre night. I will be staying at the grand hotel fleming in rome, Mediterraneo Grand Hotel Florence in florence and hotel tritone near venice.
My wife are celebrating our 10th anniv. Does anyone know where the best eats are closest to our hotels ?

Hi
My wife and I went to Milan and Venice in June last year and we had a good time. I think we stayed 3 days in Milan and 4 days in Venice. I have posted a trip report with lots of pictures on my personal homepage www.gardkarlsen.com We had our best meal on Trattoria Antica Bessetta in San Polo...you will also find a review of this place on my page. Have a great trip

Hi guitarist,
Your hotel in Florence is about 5km from the Duomo. See www.multimap.com.
Your hotel in Rome is about 5km from the tourist sites.
Your hotel in Venice is actually in Mestre.
Are you sure you want to do this?
If so, here are some restaurants in Florence that we liked.
It would be a reasonable cab ride to
Il Ritrovo Via de? Pucci 4/A Best food for the price Has fish. Full dinner w/wine abt $40 pp
Look very carefully forthe entrance. It is downstairs. No sign. Door could be locked. Ring bell.
Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco 43 Borgo San Jacapo Rave reviews on Fodor
popular but cramped (around €30 for dinner plus wine, Thu?Tue 12:00?15:00 & 18:30?23:30, closed Wed, reservations wise, tel. 055-215-706). [email protected]
Cantinetta Antinori 3 Via degli Antinori, Tel: (055) 292 234 Antinori Estates enoteca about 50E pp rave reviews
and
Il Latini's! Via dei Palchetti, 6/r (off Via della Vigna Nuova) closed Monday 055-210-916
Two seatings, 7:30 and 9:30 fewer tourist late.
In Venice, we greatly enjoyed dinner at
Cantinone Storico 041.523.95.77 Go to the Accademia Bridge. Walk away from the canal toward the Accademia. Bear left. Make first left. Go over the bridge to San Vio. Restaurant is on the right, on the canal

Gard,
I too loved your website - you've done a wonderful job with it.
I was wondering what program you use to put the travelogues together. I loved the photos interspersed with the text.
Sorry for taking this off-topic.

I have to second Ira on both Il Ritrovo and Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco. Both very good. Grotto Guelfa was not as good as the above places, but the price can't be beat for their steak.
In Rome, we loved Ditirambo. Just great. And for real Roman pizza we enjoyed Da Baffetto.
In Venice we enjoyed Paradiso Perduto and Vini da Gigio. Paradiso Perduto is corwded and fun, though not very romantic. Vini da Gigio is more intimate. Both very good.
If you're interested I can tell you about what we liked/disliked at every place.
