Naples Ferries
Hi, Does anyone have any idea how often the ferries to Sicily are cancelled in May? I finally got my trip dates and places figured out, but am now wondering if there is a strong likelihood of the ferry being cancelled. I thought the ferry was a good alternative method of transport, as it did not eat up a day travelling - important when you want to see a lot and only have 3 weeks. Also - does anyone have suggestions on room type to book on the ferries? Thanks for any advice.

Hi, I cannot answer your question about cancellation ferries. My research has shown them to be quite reliable. I too am travelling in May. My question is how do a book a ferry from Naples to Palermo from Australia. Every site I have tried only accepts Italian credit cards. Does anyone have a link that accepts Australian credit cards. Thanks.

Okay - that was something I had not looked at... I know when in Spain last fall, we had to actually travel to the bus/train station in Granada in order to buy our tickets for that same reason.... Maybe I'll just bite the bullet & book a flight.

I always use the "A Ferry" website to book ferries: www.aferry.com. Booked our ferry from Naples to Palermo on the site last spring with no problem. Easy to use and fine for a U.S. credit card -- hopefully Australian cards will be okay too.
We booked a cabin for two -- not sure what type it was (probably the cheapest LOL). It was tiny with an "open bathroom" (showerhead on the wall), but it was perfectly fine for the one night.
