Milan Centrale to MXP: Train option?
A few months ago, when I was looking for hotels for our upcoming trip, someone had mentioned that a train service between Centrale and MXP would be starting early this year. Does anyone have any information on this? I can't find it, but may be looking for the wrong thing! We booked a hotel near to Centrale, as we'll be coming in from Varenna and only staying one night before flying out the next morning. So a train to the airport without having to worry about rush hour traffic would be ideal.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Trains have started running some time ago - check www.trenitalia.com for current schedules. From Varenna change at Milano Centrale.

If you go to the trenitalia website you can see all of the scheduled times. You have to use "Milano Malpensa" or "Malpensa Aeroporto" for the airport station, and Milan Centrale for Central station.
Tickets are 7 euros and the trains run 1 or 2 times per hour during the day. It looks like the time between the stations is about 48 minutes.

PQ, we're actually staying in Milan that night to catch a morning flight. Thanks to both of you! I was looking for something more along the lines of the Malpensa Express from Cadorna, with a specific name for the airport service. But it sounds like we just buy a ticket like we will for all our other rail trips.
abenedek, do you know if there's any difference between the two Malpensa stations on the Trenitalia dropdown? The times look the same, but it seems odd to have two options for the exact same thing!

The older Malpensa Express leaves from the more in the town center Milan-Cordona station and is also a dedicated airport train - it may well be more convenient for you to get to - especially if going by taxi as taxis, last time I was there, went right up to the waiting train practically whereas in hectic, much more hectic Centrale station I am not sure about that and could be more a hassle.
Both trains are adapted for the needs of air travelers and their bags.

Thanks, abenedek! I checked too - I still think it's weird that there are two options for the same station, but I guess I shouldn't question.
Sampaguita - I saw that but was concerned about traffic, since we'll be going to the airport around rush hour. Sounds like it typically takes just a little more time than the train, though.
