Luxury overnight in Ireland within 2 hours drive from Athlone
Hi everyone
I am planning a weekend in the South of Ireland. We are spending the Friday night in the Athlone area and need somewhere for the Saturday night. I need suggestions for places that meet the following criteria:
No more than 2 hours drive from Athlone.
Has to have an open fire with comfy sofas to relax in after dinner.
Has to have either/or swimming pool/outdoor hot tub/spa facilities
Top class service
Excellent food
Dromoland was my first choice, but it is already booked out.
I am thinking of Brooklodge & Wells Spa (anyone any feedback on this place) or Rathsallagh House (any comments)?.
Thank you for your help, I realise I am quite choosy!!
Many thanks in advance!

Disregard the last web site above and instead have a look at www.adaremanor.com where President Clinton stayed while on a visit here.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. It’s funny cos we had a mini trip around Ireland last summer, and we stopped in Adare Manor as I had heard so much about it. Unfortunately it was fully booked at that time. I hadn’t considered it for this trip because for some reason I thought it was more than 2 hours from Athlone, but on visiting AA Roadwatch I see that it isn’t, so this could be perfect.
Any other ideas?? Keep them coming!!
Many thanks
Angela

Adare Manor is booked up. Sigh. Had my heart set on it.
Any ideas on the follwoing, would they fit the bill:
Tinakilly House Hotel
Cromleach Lodge
They sound lovely, but would obviously like a personal opinion too.
Thanks
