Places to stay in Ireland
My husband and I are planning our trip to Ireland. Will be travelling the first two weeks of October. Was looking for recommendations of B&B's or inns to stay in the Connemara area, Sligo/Bundoran area, Westport, Castlebar, Co.Mayo, and also Giant's Causeway and the Clones/Clogher area of Co. Tyrone. Any suggestions anyone???? Thanks.

If it's still published, the Ireland Blue Book was helpful back in 2001. I think it was free. Try googling that.
Also, if you put Connemara, Sligo, etc, into the Fodor search function you should come up w/info. Although we only ate lunch (didn't overnight) there, Ballynahinch Castle in Connemara is a Fodorite favorite.

Thanks for all the great info! - Boffin Lodge looks like a great place to stay.
Any suggestions for the town of Clones or something nearby? My Mom was from Clogher and we will be visiting Clones - any lodging there that you could recommend? Also we're going to the Giant's Causeway - recommendations up there? Is one day enough? After that we're heading back to the Shannon area and wanted to stop midway to break of the driving - any area in the midlands that you would recommend?

Hi N,
Don't know about Clones but the Corick Country House between Augher and Clogher is nice and has great food.

I like the Bushmills Inn near the Causeway but it is a bit pricy though excellent.

Some others
Bayview hotel in Portbalintrae - great location but the village is very quiet.

Cromore Halt in Portstewart, not a great location but nice Inn and good food.

Ballintoy is a nice little village close to the causeway and the Fullerton Arms gets good reviews but might be noisy at night

I love the Curravagh Manor House in Oughterard Connemara.

Lastly the Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara
