Lugano dinner prices

We are taking a Globus tour to Switzerland on Sept 4th. We need to eat dinner on our own in Lugano, Switzerland. I have found restaurants in the area, but not with menu and prices. I know restaurants are expensive in Switzerland. We can take an opitional excursion with Globus for a cruise and dinner at $92 each. Is this a fair/normal price? How does this compare with dinner prices at a local Lugano restaurant?

(I assume the dinner is on the boat(?).) I think you could spend that much in a really upscale restaurant but definitely less if you sought out budget-friendlier options.

We did a cruise from Luzern that included lunch, and it was really nice. The food was better than I expected, and the setting was a unique experience.

The excursion is described as "a boat trip on Lake of Lugano and dinner in a typical Swiss Grotto surrounded by nature". How much less would a budget friendly dinner cost?

Congrats on your trip have done Globus there great for me

Lugano is quite expensive from personal experience

Swiss Franc is sky high right now

Big Macs or Kebabs start at $7 they have MovenPick places

there where I have dined for less than $25...

A nice dinner at a nice restaurant will easily run $50 pp

Bout half the cost of your cruise.

www.eurocheapo.com usually has good local food recos

also virtualtourist.com great tips from locals.

Cruise is beautiful on that lake though so I would go for that

It sounds like you could arrange the grotto dinner yourself. Check out these links:

An older article, but scroll down to Lake Lugano and mention of Grotto dei Pescatori.

At the end of this blog, a foodie describes a meal in a grotto in Morcote (a charming town accessible by ferry).
