We recently stayed in http://www.habitatapartments.com/en/...ew/gotic13.htm
http://www.habitatapartments.com//pr..._miniguide.htm in Barcelona.
I highly recommend them and the location.

I have not used Priceline for Barcelona but I have visited Barcelona half a dozen times. Based on what I can see from the from the way PL defines zones, I would not recommend that you use Priceline for Barcelona. I think there's too big a risk you'll end up in an inconvenient or dodgy neighbourhood.
I have also found that you can find quite stylish, comfortable hotels in Barcelona through regular bookings at a decent price (e.g., 80-120 euros per night). I like the Eixample neighbourhood (for its proximity to sightseeing, lively vibe and lower concentration of crowds and pickpockets). I've been happy with hotels in the Derby chain, like the Astoria (google Derby hotels Spain). H10 and NH hotels are also generally pretty good value (in Barcelona and Madrid).
If you insist on using PL, I would recommend that you bid only for a 4* or 5* hotel in zone 1 or 3. That likely will get you a more centrally located one of a relatively high standard.

We just left Madrid and were in Barcelona last week. Stayed in the AC Diplomatic Hotel in the Eixample district of Barcelona and it was just wonderful. It was just a block away from Passeig de Gracia and a about three or four away from Placa Catalunya. The Bus Turistico and metro stations are right there when you head out to Passeig de Gracia so very handy for touring. Not sure what your budget is but we got the room for around EUR 120 a night - with a discount in the hotel website if you book early and prepay. Same price for the AC Recoletos in Madrid. Good location as well if you want to be situated in the quiet part of the city in the Salamanca area. The street is filled with restos too. The Madrid Bus Turistico had a number of stops around the hotel, the nearest being a 5-8 minute walk away at Puerta de Alcala. And the metro station isn't too far away either.
Happy planning! Both cities are beautiful!
