Never heard of those two, but beware of the MuriMuri (or some name like that which was recommended by a few here). It was only so-so, and my daughter and SIL said that when the windows were open, the stench of frying food from below wafted up and was most unpleasant.

We love Barcelona. The art is in the streets.
My wife had not been to Madrid for many years until October 2016, and then she enjoyed it tremendously. As a friend says, Madrid is a Spanish city, while Barcelona is an international city.

" the stench of frying food from below "? Interesting, since the restaurant would have to be the Petit Comitè by Nandu Jubany, the Boca Grande, which sits acorss the passageway from the hotel, or the Terrace Rambla Catalunya, none of which typically fry food.
Are you sure your daughter stayed at the Murmuri? And why would anyone open the windows in a comfortably air-conditioned hotel with double glass soundproofing? Of course some of the Privilege rooms have a sit-out terrace overlooking Rambla de Cataluyna.
The Murmuri, by the way, is a high-end 4-star boutique property belonging to the Hotel Majestic, a 5-star GL property. Both have apartments, if you're interested (https://murmuri.com).
The 3-star Gaudi Hotel sits off La Rambla, just down from Gran Teatre del Liceu. It's not my favorite area, too busy, but doable.
The Piso de Artista Zona Modernista is a short block up from the Murmuri. A pretty basic 2-bedroom apartment, but appears comfortable enough, if that's what you need.

Thank you Robert. We will only be in each place two days. We may change Gaudi as I too do not like to stay near La Rambla. Last stay was on Paral.lel almost down by the Monument and I did not care for it that much.
We will be arriving and leaving at Sants.

We put a lot of client in the Majestic and Murmuri (apartments and rooms), as we as other properties in Barcelona. Let me know your budget and I’ll see what fits. The problem is that Barcelona has become too popular for its own good.

I stayed at Hotel Jazz in October which is 2 blocks above La Rambla.
Rated a 3-star w/many amenities it should be rated higher

The Jazz is fine, but I would look at the Room Mate Anna, H10 Metropolitan, Duquesa Suites Barcelona, the new Room Mate Gerard as well as the new Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa, possibly the H10 Casa Mimosa and the Hotel Midmost, which belongs to the Hotel Majestic. All should be in your price range, have excellent locations and get great reviews. If The Corner Hotel is available, it might also work. It belongs to the Nuñez y Navarro hotel group, owners of the Hotel Jazz.

Here is another option if you prefer an apartment - I stayed there last month for 5 nights.

They have hotels in other areas of Barcelona as well and they will do two night stays. It is not terribly far from Sants station and there is a metro stop on the corner.
I am not sure when you are traveling but I put a couple of dates in March on booking.com and came up with $424 for two nights in a 2-bedroom apartment. They don't do much of a breakfast, but there a gazillion places to get a coffee outside the door (or bring your own coffee fixings.)

Thank you Rialto. I will take a look.
Breakfast is not really a consideration, although I do like Churreria Laietana. But I am going to twist myself into knots for some churros.

We loved the Murmuri, stayed in the two bedroom last May. It was too cool to sit out on the terrace, but I wouldn’t rent it for the terrace -it faced some apartments and wasn’t that great.
Loved the location, excellent. Good staff. Would absolutely rent a room there if going to Barcelona again

Booking.com is extremely wellknown and has been around for years. They have a very comprehensive list of hotels in most cities, so I have no idea what your comment is supposed to mean. It's not like booking.com has some select list of hotels they sure, and they are badly rated ones. In fact, it's amazing to me how many hotels they list even in smaller towns. The rates are mainly decided by the hotels, not booking.com, obviously. Once in a while you can get a deal on there, but nowadays, it seems to me most of the rates shown are the same rates as on the hotel's own website, at least wherever I go. I find it very useful for research, though. I do book through it occasionally if it is cheaper than the hotel itself.
