Layover in Paris...need a suggestion on my hotel.

Jump to last reply

Hey all. I'm planning a future trip, and on my return, I have a one-day layover in Paris. I'd like to do something interesting while I am there, and I would like some help choosing where to stay. Some specifics:

--I'll be getting there about 11:30 on a Sunday morning, and leaving the next day at 10:30, so I should probably be at the airport right after breakfast.
--I'd like to stay at a Hilton property, as I have a crazy amount of points, so I can stay for free.
--I am a fan of museums and history, and I'd also like to check out Paris in general. Night life would be kind of fun, but...eh. Its Sunday night, so maybe just a good restaurant in a fun area.
--I have never been to Paris before.

I was thinking I would check-in to the hotel, then maybe catch a bus/train/subway/something to the Louvre, as it's open until 6:30, and if next year is similar to this year, admission would be free on Sunday. After that, maybe dinner somewhere cool, then back to the hotel so I can catch my flight home the next morning. I don't care if I am tired...I can sleep on the flight. LOL.

Anyway, my hotel choices seem to be:

--Hilton Paris Orly Airport
--Hilton Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (this and the previous would make the trip to the airport in the morning easy)
--Hilton Paris La Defense (seems to be in an odd area and designed for business travelers)
--Trianon Palace Versailles (no real idea, other than it's a lot of points)
--Hilton Paris Opera (the most expensive, and touted as in the heart of a shopping district...not really into shopping).

Keeping in mind what I would like to do, and where I need to be in the morning, where would you recommend I stay? Don't let any positive/negative comments I made make you think I have my mind made up...I don't. =)
