Krakow guestions

Could anybody tell me how much approximately will cost to get a hairdo (no haircutting) in Krakow? Can you recommend me some places?

We are going to Krakow next week. What is the weather like there - is there snow on the ground?

Thank you for your help in advance!

hi, Kauri -- I do not know a good hairstylist in Krakow, sorry.

It is fairly cold in Krakow now, and light snow predicted all week on most days, but not much on the ground. YOu can see the forecast here

Thank you Christina very much for your information . I hope next week in Krakow is not so cold than there is in Finland now :here it is -23 C and in northern Finland in some places -40 C. Hrrrr.....

That Krakow forecast says that there is snowing in these days - very nice .

Could you Christina or somebody else recommend us good restaurant - we like to visit one evening in restaurant which offers very good food and nice athmosphere. I have thought 2 restaurants: Cyrano de Bergerac and Wierzynek. I noticed that they are not very cheap ones and I wonder if their quality-price matches together? Or can you recommend us something else?

The concierge in your hotel can give you this information. Be prepared for the snow and slush. You can get around but it may be slow. Where is your hotel? Often hotel rooms are cold, bring a sleeping cap. Krakow is a large city...it does not shut down for a bit of snow.

You will find lots of restaurant reviews on the web site below. We particularly liked Pod Aniolami and the Balaton Hugarian restaurant that is right next door to it. Not as upmarket as the ones you mentioned but interesting atmosphere, especially in Pod Aniolami.

The current forcast looks very cold. We had lots of snow on our visit between Christmas and New Year. If you want to warm up a bit, visit the salt mine, a fascinating visit and the temperature underground is a constant 14C summer and winter. You can see my report and a link to some pictures, if you are interested:

We enjoyed wonderful pierogi (polish dumplings simialr to ravioli) at a cafe called Domowe Przysmaki on a street called Slawkowska, just off the main square (North West).

Excellent value for money also!

I just had a big lunch in Wisnowy Sad Kawiarnia at Ul. Groddzka 33. It was the Friday special, fried salmon (no breading) and a plate full of veggies and a great sauce. Including 4 cl of vodka and 30 cl beer it cost less than nine dollars. Delicious and a deal. It's a Russian restaurant with old world ambience. Nothing fancy, just old.

It snowed today. Temperature is about 30F during the day, I think. It chills down at night. Bring a hat and scarf. The wind can cut right through you. Very slippery slush and/or solid ice is everywhere. Watch your footing.

Krakow has wonderful restaurants.

My favorite restaurant is Hawelka right on the main square (Rynek Glowny) at number 34. Here is the URL to give you an idea
http://www.hawelka.pl/index2.php?lang=en
I liked their borscht.

I think it is one of the best in Krakow and they have a more expensive, very nice restaurant on top, but their ground floor restaurant is more informal and very reasonably priced, but still has wonderful food and a very nice dining room. It sounds like what you want.

I also recommend you get the city guide "In Your Pocket" when you are there, as Maria suggested--it lists a lot of good restaurants with descriptions.
