is it possible for an apartment with pool in Rome? with good location
We are planning a three week tour of Italy, we have set a side a week in Rome and are following fellow travellers' recommendations (fodors and friends) to rent an apartment rather than a hotel.
Looking through the many online apartment rentals is a massive task, not knowing the best location, the value for money aspect, our limited Italian (we are working on this with lessons) for asking directions and not knowing the neighbourhoods.
We are a family of 3, with a 10 year old son, which like to 'cool off' after a big day of sightseeing and eating our way through the destination with a swim, since a nearby beach is out and i don't see any postings saying how great it is to swim in the river.
Is there a complex or private villa/apartment within Rome that has a pool that someone can recommend? that is relatifvely close to attractions (would be nice if it was walking distance to the centre of Rome) and restaurants.

Possibly in the Prati district or the Parioli district. Upmarket areas that may offer an apartment complex with pool. I wouldn't count on it however.
You could try a public pool in a sports complex which is a great way to mix with the locals. Take a look at the A.S.G. swimming pool complex on Via Portuense, 1680.

Good luck!

Don't know if this will help:
wheninrometours.com/How-To-Beat-The-Heat-In-Rome.html
This year, a lovely new public pool was inaugurated by the city of Rome just behind the Colosseum. As part of a summer entertainment series known as "All'Ombra del Colosseo" (Under the shadow of the Colosseum), a series of concerts, jazz festivals, art exhibits, and of course the pool were devised and offered to the public. The main entrance to this pool is on Via di San Gregorio, just across the street from the Palatine Hill entrance. Cooling off at this city oasis will cost you 7 Euro per person per half day, 10 Euro per person per full day (10 and 13 on the weekends).
There may be others but I didn't look too deep into Google.

Considering the age of most apartment buildings in Rome - only the original Roman ones would have pools. Otherwise you are looking at going far out into modern suburban buildings - and luxury ones at that - with high prices and long treks to get to any major sights.
I would explore the option of gyms you can join. Or look at hotels (but again, this will be few and probably very expensive).

Yes, surely you can have and I would really be happy to share my son's honeymoon apartment with you with pleasure. They are just back from Rome around 5 weeks before and we gifted them with a luxurious apartment as honeymoon gift and I am more than delighted to find them so happy after returning from there. Well returning to main theme Let em give you some point about this apartment, http://www.lodjee.com/elias-1-bedroo...rome-apartment, and you will also find the apartment a good deal of comfort with a sweet pool. Along with pool this place was really having most of the comfort amenities. Although pricing are bit high but the feeling of living with so much peace, privacy and royalty is far greater than that.

It would be a lot less expensive to go to All'ombra del Colosseo, even though the prices have gone up since the article quoted by Lydialikestotravel.

Surprisealot,
When in Rome.....
Treat yourselves to lovely evenings in a piazza with a fountain. When the breeze stirs, it blows a little cooling mist your way.
You will have a lot of fun in Rome with your 10-year-old, and don't over worry the Italian. Rent an air conditioned apartment where you can take a refreshing shower and snooze after lunch when the heat is on, and then head back out in the cool of the early evening to join the Romans for a gelato-eating, an evening meal of pizza. Explore fun places at night, like the navona fountains, or the Castel st Angelo, the trevi fountains, a night bus ride around the city or taxi etc etc. Your 10 year old will love staying up late in the alleyways and the historic monuments all lit up more than swimming in a pool.

I've seen that apartment with pool listed on Rentalinrome. I don't think I would want to pay that for a week as it has 2 twin beds and a sofa bed. All the beds appear to be in the living room.

Most hotels in central Rome don't have pools so I think it will be harder to find an apartment with a pool if you want to be in the center. There are some aparthotels in the Aurelia area (a lot of chain hotels with pools also) that have pools or agreement with nearby pools, but they are out of the city center.

Most public pools (and often hotel pools) will require swim caps.

thanks for the great repies, and tips.
Having visited the links I agree there are some fantastic apartments out there with a pool as an option.
next thing for us is to determine the districts and the best apartment to suit.
I do like Zeppole's suggestion to keep our cool and any child (or child at heart) wouldn't knock back a gelato!
Thank you pauljohnson, lydia and nytraveller and all other posts for the tips (keep them coming - please!) as this is unearthing apartments (+pool) near the centre that we couldn't find in our searches!
really appreciating it!
