Looking for a hotel recommendation for the north Rhone valley (Valence and above). Thanks so much!

No one responded to Bill and I'm looking for the same, so I thought I'd top this post.

So far I've found La Treille Muscate (www.latreillemuscate.com) in Cliousclat, which is a little south of Valence. Has anyone been there or have other suggestions? We'd prefer to be a bit further north, but this place sounds very nice.

We stayed one time at the Hostellerie du Beau Rivage in Condrieu, a very pleasant hotel along the river. Excellent dining room. At the time it was a member of the Relais et Châteaux group; I don't know whether that's still the case.

Try Pic in Valence. www.pic-valence.com

Rooms face an inner courtyard away from street noise. Very nice, large rooms--ours was on the second floor with a nice balcony. And the restaurant is world class.

A little further north is Michel Chabran. We only had dinner there, but they also have rooms.

There's also Alain Chapel, at Mionnay--elegant small hotel with a 2* restaurant.

I've stayed at the Treille Muscate before and I'd recommend it highly as a great little place with easy access off the motorway (which is important). We use it when driving to the south of France from Geneva where we live. Great little simple restaurant too. It's in a very small stone village.

Thanks rlshaw, it's always great to hear a personal experience to support the descriptions. I think we've settled on La Treille Muscate for our fall trip.

We've been to Valence before and want to be in a smaller village on this trip, but maybe we can get to Pic for a meal.
