Hotel in Athens - help, please!
Hi all -
We will be in Athens on the 23rd of September and are having quite a time finding a room. Many places are already booked due to conferences (including Attalos Hotel, Plaka Hotel). We would like to saty in the Plaka. The following hotels have availibility (Jason Inn, Arion Hotel, Hotel Tempi) does anyone have any recent experience? Is the Jason Inn far from the Plaka? What about Hotel Tempi, it is very cheap. Thanks for all of your help.

I haven't stayed at the Jason Inn, but have stayed at another Douros Hotel (the owners of the Jason Inn) called the Adrian Hotel and liked it very much. The Adrian is within Plaka, and the Jason Inn in only a few blocks away. Both the Adrian and Jason Inn are on busy roads, so be sure to ask for a room that is not facing the road.
I've never stayed at the Tempi, but know people who have stayed there that hated it. I'm not familiar with the Arion.
For mid-priced hotels in the area you are looking, I've stayed at the Phillipos, the Herodion, the Cypria, and Athens Gate, and all were fine, nothing special. All of these are conveniently located.
On my list to try in the downtown area are the Amazon and Ava. Both look like they'd be fine.

Ive just had the same problem (we arrive 4th Oct)
Have finally decided on and booked Economy Hotel - It looks really good for the its low rate of 70Euro including breakfast - a double, and its in walking distance to the Plaka. Here is their website for you to check out
http://www.economyhotel.gr/index.php
Its a family run hotel and Ive had no problems getting replies to my email when booking.
Maybe someone here can give feed back on this hotel - it actually looks too good to be true after searching many hotels in this price range.

Hi
We stayed at Cecil Hotel - http://www.cecil.gr - which is a couple of doors down from the Attalos. Very nice building and staff.

I would never recommend staying in Omonia, particularly if there is a female in the party. Certainly, Omonia has been cleaned up somewhat, but it is still not a comfortable place to walk around at night, in my opinion.
