Hi, I would like to have some feedback concerning Hotel du Danube's apartments. All I know is that there are two bedrooms and they sound wonderful. <BR><BR>As it'll be approximately 200 euro I just want to be sure we are making a good decision. Therefore, if anyone has stayed in their apartments recently I would really like to know how they are like. Are they well-maintained? Are the bathrooms modern, any shower curtain provided, etc?<BR><BR>Thanks much.

I always stay in the apartment at Danube. Nice bathroom, big windows overlook the courtyard {small} but is quiet since you are not street side.<BR> 2 rooms 1 with double bed and you can close the door off for privacy.<BR> The front room has 2 twin beds 2 closets on ech side. Beds are very comfortable, nice down pillows. Very clean.<BR> Great street, fabulous service, excellent value. PJ

I have not stayed in the apartment but have stayed att he danube many times. the service is lovely, severin the manager is incredible helpful. He actually wrote a persoanl check for a wheelchair he ordered for my mother as it arrived before we did. The desk clerk Francois is a jewel, he is entertainment in himself. He and all the staff will make you glad you are there.<BR> My only complaintis they have no air conditioning. I hope that is I bug severin enough he will get it in at least a few rooms.

We stayed at the Du Danube a few weeks ago for 4 nights. The location is fabulous, the hotel is clean, the rooms are not the typical &quot;postage-stamp,&quot; (though the room was dark and poorly lit) and the bathroom is fine. The best part was the sheets. Frette, perhaps? Great sheets!<BR><BR>The downside: We took the upgraded room (for size) and courtside because people had posted about the noise on the street side. We were awakened several times each night, however, by loud banging noises that made us both sit straight up in bed. The last night I finally made it out of bed in time to catch what it was--they were dragging the huge trash cans across the courtyard from each building (4 sides). It was really awful!<BR><BR>We paid 150e--friends stayed down the street at the Millesime for a little more $ and loved it. I think I'll give that a try next time.<BR>

First thanks for the helpful comments. But I'm concerned about the garbage cans that Mel reported he heard being dragged through the courtyard.<BR><BR>Has anyone else experienced this awful distraction because as I understand, the apartments are on an inner courtyard.

Hi francophile We stayed -maybe 4 years ago, the staff at the desk is amazingly friendly and helpful. The room was nice, we asked for a large double overlooking the courtyard and got two twin beds pushed together and two big windows, am armoire, desk, table and chairs..the room was roomy. The bathroom was all marble, quite small but had everything it needed except the tub was short, very deep but short and no curtain..
That is all I can remember, that and it rained one day and they all scurried around to give us an umbrella~

Iam returning 11/26/03 for 3 nights in the apartment.
I have stayed there 3 times in the past 3 years. The location is great!
Severin is still there, as so is Francois.
I read the tripadvisor reviews also, they are all over the place. It is still a gem! I will always stay here in the shoulder seasons. {no air conditioning in the summer].
Book without hesitation it is a great boutique hotel on the best street in Paris! PJ

Wow, thanks for the quick responses. I admit when others have asked about this hotel I recommended it although I've never stayed there but I stayed several buildings away at Hotel d'Angleterre. I did walk by the Danube then and it seemed really nice enough to make me wish I had chosen to stay there instead.
Now I'm getting interested in the hotel (along with Hotel de Lutece-too many nice hotels to choose from). I have inquired recently about their offerings and the rate is really low for a twin courtside so it's peaked my interest even further. They said that the courtside room has 2 chairs and a table, a wardrobe, plus the bathroom is renovated and has a shower curtain. The room size is about 180 sq. ft. I guess it's not large but if it can hold a table and wardrobe it must be comfortable.
I did notice others in the past had said that Severin answered all emails so I was surprised I got an email from someone named Marie. That's why I wondered if Severin was still around. I am glad to know that he is still there along with Mr. Sario.

I will be going in February so I'll bet it will be quite frigid so the lack of a/c is fine.

Sorry, Scarlett, as you may know(or may not know)I am not too keen on Hotel d'Angleterre. Of course, it's in the same location as the Danube so the location is excellent.
But my family and I were disappointed in our room-well, the lack of some maintenance of the room really . It was room #47 located above the courtyard and mentioned in Sandra Gustafson's Great Sleeps writeup about the hotel. This room is not serviced by the elevator so you have to walk up several steps to get to it.
I liked that there were two doors: an outer door as you entered with a small room to hang your jackets if you wanted and then the inner door to the room. I must admit the room size was really roomy for Paris as it held a double sized bed plus a sofa bed for our son but head-to-head positioned though. There was room for a table plus 2 chairs and a TV and still there was space to walk around. There was a non-working fireplace with a portrait of a young woman above it. I did like the bathroom somewhat as it has a nice painted porcelain sink inset into a washbasin stand. Also quaint and unusual/amusing were the toilet and bidet located in a separate room next to the bathroom and were positioned opposite the other. The toilet and bidet were painted porcelain that matched the sink. The tub was a bit old and had some mold around it-that was icky but there was a shower shield which I appreciated. The faucet was bronze I think and was a bit loose so we were careful not to jiggle it too much for fear it would drop off .
There were two nice windows overlooking the courtyard and a nice feature are the electric blinds to darken the room if desired. There was a smaller inner window that opened into an empty space like an air shaft.
Also the room itself smelled musty, the pillows smelled awfully musty and old, and there was peeling paint just above the lady's portrait.
Breakfast was horrible-sorry about saying so but it was especially for 9.15 euro/pp. I sure hope it's gotten better.
Until the management maintains all rooms equally I would not think of staying there again because I don't want to take a chance on being disappointed again. I mean it cost 248 euro per night for the three of us.

I do remember that you did not love it there and I am sorry.
We had the room in the brochure with the painting over the fireplace of a ship on the sea. There was a desk and sofa, coffee table, tv and small wall with a big bed and armoire .. the bathroom was very big and I remember that little toilet bidet room too
There was a door so one could have adjoining rooms. I want one of the rooms on the side, that have the four poster beds and chandeliers over the bed
Although next trip we are considering renting the flat that Patrick rents on the Ille St-Louis.

Four poster beds &amp; chandeliers? That type of room must have a very high ceiling! I have heard the hotel's rooms are all different. Oh, and to provide a great memory of our stay, I will never forget the really amorous couple above our room. That night confirmed that the hotel's floors and ceilings are still sturdy after all these centuries
So you'll be staying in a flat on the island next time. That should be really nice!

I meant you but the flat is not on the Ille St-Louis! The lovely flat that you stay in on the Left Bank, I bookmarked that site (sant.com) and look at it sometimes, consoling myself with the thought that once this move is finished, a trip to Paris is sure to follow~
