Honeymoon in Croatia

We will be spending part of our honeymoon in August in Croatia. We will be staying 2 nights in Dubrovnik and plan on taking a boat one day to the Elaphite Islands. We will be staying 2 nights in Split and plan on driving to Krka National Park one day. We will be staying 3 nights in Hvar and then will catch the ferry to Pescara to spend the rest of our honeymoon in Italy. Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants in Dubrovnik, Split and Hvar? What would you recommend to do in Hvar (we are staying at the Amfora)? One day in Split will be spent sightseeing around the city - what should we see? Any other advice about these 3 cities in Croatia would be great!

Unfortunately Rosarij in Dubrovnik is no longer in business. It is a very sad thing. My friend owned this restaurant, which was one of the best in Dubrovnik. The "money men" in Zagreb would not renew his lease. There will be another restaurant in it's place, but nothing can replace Rosarij, with it's wonderful staff and delicious food.

I'm so sorry to hear about Rosarij - it had such great food and such wonderful service! I wonder if your friend (Barb) was the man who treated me so well when I was there - he really made the evening special. I wish him well.

If he was tall, dark and handsome, that was him. He was owner, waiter, chef at times and is a very special person.

Aw, sorry to hear that too. I dined there on both visits to Dubrovnik. It was such a great location tucked into that corner.

Elizabeth, sorry to hijack your thread, but I think Rosarij was a favorite place for many Fodorites and will be sadly missed. Another suggestion I would have for you is Taj Mahal. It's a great little Bosnian resto with delish food and good prices.

Taj Mahal is a good recommendation. Nishta is also a great restaurant, though it is vegetarian and not Croatian food. For pizza, try Oliva. Sesame is a great restaurant to try Croatian food with a twist.

You know 2 nights in Dubrovnik means only one full day and maybe pieces of others. Ditto Split. So when are you going to find time for these day trips while doing justice to Dubrovnik and Split? And does your hotel in Split have parking? Split is a fairly big city; getting in and out of it is going to take some time. I wouldn't think it a good base to daytrip from.

Are you driving your car to Hvar?

Rosarij in Dubrovnik reopened as Rosario. We just came back a week ago. The tall, dark & handsome owner & waiter is still there. He said they were closed for 3months to remodel. I was disappointed at the ambience -it was very very bright - and sadly, the food as just ok. It wasn't bad but we had better food at the Lokanda Pescarija.
