I am doing my HW. We will be in Paris for 8 days in in April 2008. I am considering an apt, but I will not do anything until I get some comments on this board. Rick Steves suggests a place called www.homerental.fr. Does anyone have any knowledge of them?

On an earlier Itlay trip, the only bad hotel we had was one highly suggested by Rick Steves in Sienna. I do not want to make that mistake again. The ones we loved were all found on this board.

I have narrowed it down to a few places. This will be a first trip to Paris for both of us. We are in our mid 50's and healthy at this time.

I am looking at the first two, with feedback on those. I am looking for a bigger bed, not many stairs, and A/C only if you think it's mandatory for April in Paris.

I can't imagine anyone using AC in April in Paris, even if they have a unit in the building, that sounds doubtful that it would even be working. Forget that, it's ridiculous unless you're going to the equator.

Two of those have those loft things to add a bed (which isn't a real floor but a platform built into the room with some stairs). I would not rent one of those myself as I think they are dangerous. Neither of the first two has decent stairs -- the first one are narrow spiral and the second have no handbar. The third unit, which I guess you don't like anyway, doesn't have a regular bed but a mattress on a board, it looks like. I expect that will not be comfortable. At least the other two have what appears to be a real bed.

Actually, I liked the last one best except for that bed which would scare me off, and it is minuscule, about half the size of the second one. I don't like the second one because it has the sink in the bedroom (and only a bowl, I hate those kind of sinks, they are difficult to use and everything gets wet). I'd be leery about an apt. on the first floor (which I assume is one up from street) on bd Montparnasse which is very noisy. I would not take that one for that reason, as you'll want the windows open in April.

I guess that leaves the first one, it looks okay but for the spiral stairs.

I wouldn't rent any of them, but if you like their looks, the beds, and those stairs, I do think the one on bd Montparnasse is potentially very noisy.

we stayed in Paris apartment for 5 nights in April this year. can highly recommend. the owners live in California. I had the most wonderful email communication with them. felt so at ease that we were getting what we thought we would. fantastic location, beautifully clean and furnished. had everything you could possibly want. friends of ours have just stayed there also in the last couple of weeks. they loved it also.it is in the 3rd district the marais www.myparisdream.com

We have just booked a five night stay in Paris from April 5th to the 10th in the 2nd district. The apt. was recommended by someone who had stayed there. It is a small studio for 60 Euros a night!! We are also taking our 12 year old son with us. You definitely don't need air conditioning that time of year! Our "internet friends" loved the unit!

Of the three I would take the second over the other two for configuration (better than both the others) and location (better than the first one).
The prices seem OK but not fabulous, especially with horrid exchange rates.
I agree that AC is not generally necessary in April in Paris.
There are so many sites listing apartments in Paris that it is easy to go into info overload. Have you checked with http://www.vrbo.com or looked on the paris craigslist?

This past February we stayed in a rentparis.com apartment. Ours was Number 10, but we had three people. I would definetly stay with them again.

The staff in Paris was particularly great. The met us at the apartment, carefully went through everything, and there were good things about the apartment than we had counted on. When we had a small problem, they fixed it rapidly and one very good cleaning was included in the price. Lots of towels, too.
