Hey everyone, sorta last minute help needed.

We are booked to stay in aix for 3 nights at the end of Aug this month. We had originally planned to rent a car but we have since decided to take a train there from Nice and avoid the rental car. Countless people have suggested that the rental car is the way to go, but I'm wondering whether we can still see some of the Provence region by joining some day trips. If we spend 1 or 2 days day trips, is that a worthwhile way to see the region? If so, can anyone recommend some well regarded tours? We want to see the lavender fields and luberon in particular. Any thoughts on this approach?

I'm afraid all the lavender is gone--harvested or bloomed out by early August this year -- its a june/july crop in most years and this was an early season.
As for touring the Luberon, you are a fair distance from it and it will require transportation. Either rent a car or contact the Aix TI and arrange for a tour--ASAP!
