Guidecca in Venice?

I am looking at staying at a HI Hostel in Venice. The hostel is located on the island of Guidecca. I have no experience with the Vaporetto in Venice. Does anyone have any advice on whether it would be efficient to stay on the island. How often does the vaporetto run to guidecca? how late at night does it run to the island? the last think i want is to get stranded with no place to sleep. any info would be much appreciated! THANKS!

Hi
the island is Giudecca.
It is a 5 minute boat ride from San Marco.
For vaporetto schedules, see

There is a vaporetto stop quite close to the hostel, which has a million-dollar view over to San Marco.

You are only a couple of vaporetto stops from San Marco.

I imagine the hostel doors close for the night before the vaporetto stops running!

Note some of the comments here, including curfew and vaporetto comments:

Also check the reviews at the BugEurope.com site.

But as Elaine said, check the www.actv.it site for the most up-to-date details.

The BugEurope.com site offered some alternatives to the HI Hostel in Venice. After reading the reviews I strongly urge you to make another choice. The lockout would be hell if you happened to run into bad weather, and the smells, the noise... well, again, I urge you to try one of the listed places with a slightly higher rating.

The Hostelz.com and Hostelworld.com sites also list other Venice options. Definitely worth considering.
