Gift for friends in Greece

Hi all, I'm hoping you can help me come up with a good gift for friends who are hosting us at their vacation home in Greece (which they sometimes rent out). They live in the US, but spend the summer in Greece.

I'd like to bring something useful/fun that can stay in the house, or maybe something to be consumed during our visit. Any thoughts on a really excellent thank you gift? Could be something brought from the US or picked up along the way in Greece.

Thanks!

Although I don't know where you live, there's probably an art museum near you. I always send or bring a scarf as thank you gift for a woman, a pen for a man. They are very light weight and fit into my carry-on bag and if I'm sending them, do not cost a fortune in postage.

Why don't you buy something tasteful while you are in Greece?
Something for the house....? Don't know where the house is located, but i am sure there will be somewhere nearby a nice shop...

I live in Italy and I always appreciate it when visiting friends ask me shortly before they leave the states if they can bring me anything, because sometimes I've just run out of some vitamin I can't get here, or other oddball item. I've even asked people to bring me a book I can't get here.

That aside, I think anybody who owns a vacation home can always use a lightweight wood serving tray, which you could pack in the middle of your carry on. Or even a wood salad bowl is easy to pack in a carry on. Toss in the some wooden spoons, salad tongs. The company Mountain Woods has a very affordable selection of useful items in lightweight woods that are decor-neutral, including inexpensive nut-olive servers, which would be very useful in greece.

Thank you for your thoughts. We live in NYC, so there is an endless variety of things we could bring from the states (hence my need for inspiration!). Our friends said they don't need us to bring anything. I guess I'm wondering if there is something useful I can bring that they might not be thinking of, something that's difficult to find in Greece? (clearly not olive oil, wine or sun . . . .)
