Galleria Borgese tickets

We are going in October. Any suggestions about getting tickets etc. is it better to be on your own or on a tour? Do tours show more rooms? Thanks so much.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. We chose to do a tour with a guide employed by the Borghese. I thought she was wonderful. We just went up to the ticket counter to pick up our tickets and at that time, paid for the tour. Of course, I cannot compare it with what you would experience with the headphones.

The tours don't show any additional rooms. The museum is not terribly large. I've never taken a tour there, relying instead on a good guide book on my several visits. It's not actually my favorite museum in Rome, so I mostly go there when they have a special exhibit I want to see.

I've done the Borghese docent-led tours twice and enjoyed them.

<< Do tours show more rooms? >>

More rooms than what? You don't see the entire museum with the tours but you do get more depth in the rooms you see.

Guided tours in English are at 9:10 and 11:10. You cannot reserve the tours.

We did the tour and found it to be excellent ~ perhaps not as excellent as having a private tour which I listened in on a few times but wonderful enough that we're going back in October to enjoy it all again. The museum led tour allows you about 30 minutes after the tour finishes to wander around on your own, where we used the Rick Steve's guide to the museum to cover a bit more ground. Since you'll be nudged out after exactly 2 hours its wise to use your time well. Don't forget to show up at least 1 hour early to pick up your tickets and get in line to get in...only 200 folks are allowed in per time slot and that's a long line in high season.

Hope you have a great time!

You may be aware that you need to check any bags and recording devices in. So allow time for this. http://www.galleriaborghese.it/borghese/en/einfo.htm
