France: Driving from Avignon to Florence via Cannes & Pisa - suggestions?
We are driving From Avignon area to Italy via Cannes because we want to stop and visit friends in Cannes for a day or two on our way. We'd like to do this in less than a week, and would like some advice on any 'don't miss' places on the way, or what to avoid, and a realistic idea of how long it will take.
Also, we are doing this just after the end of the Cannes Film Festival and also the Grand Prix, so wonder how this will interfere, if at all.
Although we are going to see friends, we want to stay on our own, and would also like some suggestions for about 4-5 nights all up. One to three on our way to Cannes, and two in or near Cannes.
Or, if you have a better idea, please do share it.
We are around 60, and like fairly mid-range places, nice but not luxurious. Reasonably inexpensive.
This is planned for the end of May, as we have to be in Florence 2 June.

nice but not luxurious. Reasonably inexpensive.
Taking a rental from France to Italy, if even allowed, does not mesh with an idea of something reasonably inexpensive. Are you aware of cross-border drop-off charges?
For B&Bs in France, try this http://en.gites-de-france.com/vacati...tml?critinit=O
we have always been satisfied with "2 ears of corn" accommodations, or this site: http://www.france-voyage.com/en/
