Four Seasons London

Has anyone stayed at the Four Seasons in London by Hyde Park? I am trying to decide whether to stay there or at the Dorchester.

Four Seasons is a business hotel, if you're staying at a Deluxe property in London, you want to stay at one with history.

The Dorchester is a little staid now, I'd recommend Claridge's which has a slightly better location and far superior interiors.

MK2: Why do you think Claridge is a better location.

Park Lane/Hyde Park locations are for me far too much on the border. From Claridge's you have the restaurants of Dover Street/Piccadilly/Berkeley Square all close at hand. You also Have Bond St/South Molton St/Oxford St across the road. It's in the middle of things. Park Lane is an easy walk, but adds an extra 10 minutes, which is time that is wasted.

I agree with MK; I think Claridge's would be a better location as well as a more interesting hotel.

Including the rationale for statements made is always helpful to requesters in making "informed" decisions. I just wish a few others would be as considerate as you all were.

I love the Dorchester. I've never stayed at the Four Seasons.

While I too agree with MK that there's more within walking distance of Claridges than any of the Park Lane/Hyde Park hotels, if you'd got the money to stay at any of these, you've got the money for a taxi.

Read reviews on tripadvisor and decide. I think it's funny to say that the Dorcheseter is more staid than Claridges.

The Dorchester is far more staid than Claridge's which attracts a younger clientele. People under 50 would never dream of going to to The Dorchester for a drink. I don't need to use tripadvisor, when I have these places on my doorstep. I never dine at The Dorchester either, it's quite simply nothing that special.

for the first and only time in my life I will agree here with m_kingdom. Dorchester is your standard old posh hotel. Claridges is, well, like no other hotel in its category. A truly magical art deco experience, a great bar, with a world class restaurant to boot.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I have decided to try the Claridge instead of the Four Seasons based on all of your feedback.

Thanks again!

Firstly, let me congratulate you on an excellent decision.

Secondly, it's Claridge's, it is never ever referred to as the anything.

Have you thought of the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge?

Old classic hotel, v expensive but v v good right opposite Harvey Nics and along from Harrods

They do have an excellent spa too, and bar, it depends on what location you'd like. I'd always choose Mayfair over Knightsbridge/Hyde Park.
