You should elminate Venice. It is too much travel in the heat of summer with a one year old child.

Rent an apartment in Rome, and an apartment in the Amalfi. Look on Tripadvisor for Rome apartment rentals. Look at the agency "Summer in Italy" for Amalfi apartment rentals.

Get air conditioning. It will be very hot in Rome.

abusen,

You need to check with Bettoja Hotel Massimo d"Azeglio to be sure they will allow five people in the quadruple room. Also, does that room have a kitchen and air conditioning? With children, it really helps to have someplace you can make food.

I highly recommend you eliminate Venice and rent an apartment or residence hotel in Rome.

Have you checked that these lodgings have AC? Many in Italy - esp apartments don't - and that can be very trying with temps in the high 90s and humid - esp with an infant.

Also you have booked a quad room for 5 people. Does the hotel know this? Where will the baby sleep? Will they provide you towels etc for the infant. imilarly for an overnight train. Have you checked that the infant is free in whatever type of compartment you are getting. (Is this private or shared? Other travelers might not appreciate a baby in there compartment?)

Frankly, with a child that young and all the stuff you need (stroller, baby seat, diaper bags etc) I would travel by car versus train - so you don;t have so much to haul onto public transit.

Agree you should do less moving and concentrate on the relaxed style of travel you will need with an infant and an 8 year old.

For the Hotel policies

Children and extra bed policy

* All children under 12 years stay free of charge for extra beds.
* All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
* All older children or adults are charged EUR 30.00 per night and person for extra beds.

* Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.

this what I get with hotel conformation from Booking.com

Agree with Zeppole. The hotel policies you posted don't seem to say anything about maximum number of people in a room. A "quad" means for four people, you shouldn't assume they will let you put 5 in there. I would e-mail the hotel directly and confirm. Better find out now and not later if 5 persons will be a problem.

Agree also with eliminating Venice, given the limited number of hours it would be a waste of time and unnecessary cost and stress.

I agree with the suggestions to skip Venice and just split your time between Rome and Amalfi. Rent an apartment in each city if possible. AC is a must!
