Ever rented with Sleeping in Florence??
Please be so kind as to share your experience renting from this company. It seems to good to be true -- air conditioning, sat TV, great prices, nice locations.
Are apts clean?
Are beds comfy?
If you rented a specific one, please let me know you liked it!!
We are a family of 4.

We rented the Falleri apt. through Sleeping in Florence two years ago. The apt. was as shown in the pictures--very clean, all the stated amenities and the location could not be beat, about 1/2 block to the Duomo. We dealt with Gianna who was most accommodating. The only drawback to the Falleri apt. was that it was on the fourth floor with no elevator. Other than that we couldn't ask for a nicer place for the money.

I was very interested in these apartments and am going to look in to them. I don't really see any problems with them and I love the idea of having a washer to use while staying in florence.
Do you know if there is a desk staff that can help you during your time there with reservations, restaurant recommendations, other helpful information?
Has anyone stayed there recently? The reviews are all fairly old.

Hi Dina,
I have stayed in Alberti, Donati and Poggi in past trips -- all GREAT. I had a wedding in Florence this past May, and my guests all rented Guelfa, Poggi, Donati, Medici, Nanni, Conti, Dei, Galeota, and Falleri and everyone was extremely pleased with the apartments, the spaciousness, the comfort, the cleanliness, and the central locations, and the apartment owner and manager as well. I highly recommend them all. The beds are all very comfortable. I think Dei or Conti would be better for a family of 4 as they have two proper bedrooms. Alberti and Casini have lofts, so a little less private. In the other building (florenceapartmentrentals.net) either Donati or Medici would be good for 4 too. You can't lose with these!

We stayed in the Lepri apartment in 2003 and were very pleased with the location, amenities, security, price, etc., as well as the correspondence beforehand. The apartments seemed to be recently renovated at that time and we would stay there again.
Cindywho, I think people are referring to the helpful woman as in either their pre-arrival or upon arrival. You usually have a contact in the event of emergency with the apartment, but they don't handle daily things such as reservations or typical travel questions.

We stayed in the "Casini" apartment for a week in April 2007.
Gianna, the owner, is the person with whom you communicate when making your arrangements. She was always quick to respond, very pleasant, and extremely professional.
Gabriella, her cousin, is the contact person who meets you when you arrive, and whom you can call during your stay if you encounter any problems, need help, etc. She speaks excellent English, and is very helpful and dependable.
You are in good hands with Gianna and Gaberiella. They are trustworthy, kind and honest, and manage the operation very well.
The Casini apartment itself was even better than it appeared in the photos on the website. Very, very clean. Everything seemed fresh, from the paint on the walls to the linens. It was also very well equiped- there was an iron and ironing board, broom and dustpan, extra blankets, lots of dishes and cutlery, a toaster, and even an umbrella. There were several guide books about Florence, cookbooks, and a variety of paperbacks novels left from previous guests. There was even a "Guestbook" filled with comments from the people who had rented the apartment (filled with praise from other happy renters)
The washing machine worked well, and a large drying rack for your clothes is provided. The water pressure is excellent. The bathroom was new, modern, and sparkling clean. There were two generous sized Ikea wardrobes (this is a two bedroom apartment) for your clothes, as well as a linen closet with shelves near the washroom and another utility cupboard where the ironing board, broom, etc. were stored.
The beds were comfortable, with firm mattresses. We certainly slept very well. The windows in the apartment were huge, with large folding shutters. We all loved hanging out the window and simply watching the action below- (Casini apartment is up seven flights of stairs)-you will not need the tv, believe me. Watching the life outside the windows is far more interesting.
Borgo San Lorenzo is a lively, noisy street, pedestrian only, crammed with restaurants and shops and people.In the mornings there are the well dressed Florentines walking to their offices; vendor merchants dragging their rolling kiosks behnd them, on their way to set up outside the Duomo; and milk trucks making deliveries. We also watched the cats prowling on the rooftops across the street. The top of the Duomo and the Bell Tower were visible from our windows. We loved hearing the church bells in the morning. Watching the sun rise over the rooftops in the mornings was amazing.
At night the street is bustling with diners, and illegal street vendors from Africa, who carry their bundles of fake Chanel and Gucci handbags, sunglasses, and watches in large white sheets, and spread their wares out on the sidewalks. Some nights the police make an effort to clear them off, and they are constantly on the move.
Every night a man wandered amoungst the outside diners playing his accordian- always "never on sunday". It became a joke, and it's now our Florence song. My dad thought about throwing his shoe down at the poor guy once or twice. The windows do a very good job of shutting out the noise, though.
Because it was much warmer than usual this April, it was sometimes a bit too noisy for us, because it was too warm to keep the windows shut but the air conditioning wasn't set up to run yet so early in the spring (or we couldn't get it running, anyways). This wasn't a big deal, we could have called and asked Gabriella about it but it wasn't a big enough issue for us to bother. (Florence is a noisy city in general, as it is crammed with people and the noise really echoes up through the narrow streets and along the stone buildings)
The location is excellent for a first visit to Florence, right in the middle of everything. You can walk everywhere easily. If mobility is an issue, do be aware that there is no lift in the building. Climbing the stairs can be tiring sometimes (remember you'll have to drag your luggage up), but its what keeps the prices afforable.
If the stairs aren't an issue, then I think the Sleeping in Florence apartments are a perfect place for a family to stay. The extra space of a kitchen and little living room is wonderful, as is the relative privacy of seperate bedrooms. You can spread out and settle in and really feel like you have a home-base.
I also saw from the guestbook that many people who rent the apartments are families with children.
You can certainly rent from Sleeping in Florence without any worry. We were thrilled with the apartment, and with Gianna and Gabriella themselves.
I loved Florence, writing this is making me long to be there again.
