We will be in London for 3 days in March then will fly to Berlin from Luton. I've read that we can take the easy jet bus from London and that on-line fares are 2 pounds per person (there are 3 of us)but when I try to book them it is showing 7 pounds/person. Does anybody know approximately how much does it cost to take the cab from Arran House Hotel (near the British Museum) to Luton? any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.

With four of you consider a car service, usually quite a bit cheaper than a regular black taxi. I just www.justairports.com. From that postcode to Luton in a medium size their chart shows £46 one way.

And here is the scoop from Easy Jet FAQ on the bus service. (Note the trick for a group they explain.)

"Online easyBus fares start at £2 one way with a maximum of £8 One Way

A return fare is the two appropriate one way fares added together. (For example if the system quotes London Victoria - Luton Airport @ £4 and Luton Airport - London Victoria @ £6 then the return fare is £10 - £4 + £6).

We do state "From £2 one way" and "Subject To Availability" on the website and in our advertising.

Please note that £2 fares are not available on all departure times and there is a limited number of £2 seats on any departure. As a very approximate guide you will need to book at least 6 weeks in advance to get a £2 fare.

We follow the low cost airline principle of "the earlier you book the less you pay". There are so many seats at £2, £4, £6, £7, £8. When all the £2 seats are sold, we sell the £4 seats. When the £4 seats are all sold we sell the £6 seats and so on. This means that as seats are sold the price goes up.

The system charges all the passengers in the same booking the same fare. So for example if there were 2 seats at £2 available and 2 seats at £4 each then the system charges 4 seats at £4 (a total of £16). It does NOT charge 2 @ £2 and 2 @ £4 (a total of 12).

Thus groups of passengers may find it cheaper to split the group up into smaller parties (for example a group of 6 may find it cheaper as 3 parties of 2 passengers) and make separate bookings for each party.

There are no other booking fees charged (eg a fee for using certain types of credit card).

Children (aged 3 and over), students and senior citizens all pay the same fare as adults. One Child under 3 years of age may travel free of charge if accompanied by a passenger over the age of 16. The child will not be entitled to a seat. Additional children under the age of 3 require a paid for booking to travel on easyBus services.

Due to the competitive fares easyBus offers, easyBus is not able to offer group discounts nor discounts to easyJet passengers.

Not sure if you know there is also a train to Luton Airport Parkway station and from there, a shuttle bus to the airport. This might be a bit fiddly, as you would have to get the tube to the station which connects with the First Capital Connect train, then the shuttle at the other end. Might be worth looking at costs though. The shuttle was free but they've just started charging 1 pound per person, each way (if you have a train ticket).

If you want to check the train service, try either www.nationalrail.co.uk which will show times and fares or First Capital Connect which is the train company.
